What is SBI and which side is on track to win?
The Advance Ohio Higher Education Act (SB1) is a bill that the majority party in the State of Ohio Legislature claims will put education over indoctrination at our colleges and universities. Trumpeted as a reform bill, SB1 would ban diversity, equality, and inclusion (DEI), topics it deems controversial, and faculty strikes while requiring reviews of tenured professors along with enacting other anti-education measures. In other words, SB1 is designed instead to ensure indoctrination over education thereby, once again, proving that in MAGA world, every accusation is a confession.
Which side will win in the fight over SB1? Truth or deception? Read on.
It's hard to believe, but overnight the National Park Service has removed "transgender" and the "T" from the LGBTQ+ acronym on their webpage about the Stonewall National Monument — a monument to honor the LGBTQ+ movement!
This is not just a slight—it exemplifies the ongoing rollback of LGBTQ+ protections under the current administration, specifically targeting transgender individuals.
This incident underscores the urgency of our work. If actions like these go unchallenged, they risk becoming entrenched, perpetuating discrimination against LGBTQ+ individuals. We must act now to prevent this from becoming the norm.
Our vision is clear: a society where LGBTQ+ individuals are fully recognized and protected under the law, where diversity is celebrated, and where everyone can live with dignity and respect. This is about more than our fight for rights—it's about our shared humanity.
An “important breakthrough” in Alzheimer’s disease treatment may soon be forthcoming. Local doctor Gerard Nuovo, MD recently published a study revealing encouraging results using an existing drug and mice.
An estimated seven million people in the US suffer from Alzheimer's disease. Although some treatments are available, they are expensive, may slow the disease down a bit, but offer no cure. Some have potentially negative side effects.
The study is considered “pre-clinical” because drugs must be tested in animals before they can be tested in people. Surprisingly, mouse models of Alzheimer's disease are extensively used in research. They are valuable because the mouse brain has the actual human gene that can cause Alzheimer's disease.
In human Alzheimer's disease, certain proteins called “BCL2 family proteins” concentrate in the damaged neurons. A mouse model of the disease involves giving mice the human gene that causes Alzheimer’s then administering a drug to block the BCL2 protein.

Ohio Senate Minority Leader and out lesbian Sen. Nickie Antonio (D-Lakewood) has re-introduced the Ohio Fairness Act for the 12th time, despite waning support among Republican lawmakers.
The Fairness Act – which would extend equal civil rights protections to LGBTQ+ Ohioans – was formerly a bipartisan bill.
However, Antonio said the Trump administration’s focus on anti-transgender policy and rhetoric has helped set an increasingly anti-LGBTQ+ precedent at the Ohio Statehouse.
“We should already have equal rights in the state of Ohio, so it’s important to introduce legislation that calls for that,” Antonio said. “People from the LGBTQ+ community should already receive equal treatment under the law – and that means in employment, in housing and when traversing the public sphere.”

I’m contemplating Slutty Vegan should open a North Campus location. I contemplated the lack of vegan options in my immediate neighborhood. Slutty Vegan is a vegan burger place in ATL, NY, TX, and Alabama.
I perused my immediate vegan options within a short walk. I remembered I love Ne’s Chinese Food. During Covid, Ne’s Chinese Food, 2620 N High St, Columbus, OH 43202, built stringed contraptions for no contact payment, and food reception. Ne’s was like San Rio made a cute scene in a Godzilla movie during Covid.
Ne’s veg options offers American Favorites, and Main menus. Ne’s sticks out because of the Eggplant Dishes.
I ordered Fried Potato, Eggplant, Green Peppers and rice. Big round eggplants, with small potatoes and slices of small green peppers are scrumptious. Other main favorites include Eggplant with Brown Sauce, and Home Style Tofu. I haven’t tried the Cumin Green Bean, or Cumin Fried tofu, yet.
While I don’t know the differences between the American, and Main Menu. From the American menu, I order Sichuan Tofu, Sichuan Eggplant, and Tofu Vegetables.
I ate food while watching TV.
