Google is spending $70 billion this year on artificial intelligence (AI) data centers although experts are terrified the AI bubble will burst. What also can't be ignored is Google's sci-fi-looking data center in the fields off South High Street, not far past 270 and next to the casino – a data center that just recently came online.
The AI gamble could tank the economy and marginalize an entire generation, as all of these types of bubbles have done before. A lot of money is going in and no one has much of a clue what could come out.
Ironic is how Google's 500-acre Far South Side data center was built on a former "snake-oil farm" owned by Dr. Samuel B. Hartman, who grew grapes for a "medicine" known as Peruna during the early 1900s. He claimed it was a miracle cure for congestion, but the only miracle was the "buzz" it offered. Nearly a third of each bottle was ethanol.
At one time it was also the largest cattle farm in Ohio, but Columbus is long past being a "cowtown." It's now a massive "data center farm." The region ranks second in the nation for hyperscale facilities (data centers) run by Google, Amazon, and Meta.
Those church bells you’ve been hearing every day aren’t an accident.
After decades of hatred, Ohio Republicans and Democrats have come together as a single force of change. Normally they fight over abortion and gun rights, but they now have a common goal; a common vision for the future of Ohio.
The death of public education.
Both parties have a different way to achieve this objective, but at least they can agree on something.
Ohio Republicans have successfully shifted over a billion dollars from funding public education (required by the state constitution) into the hands of private schools under the lie of “school choice.” None of those private schools are required to follow state standards; and many of those vouchers go to wealthy families who can afford it, but they don’t care about the details. It is just one step closer to their end goal.
Not to be outperformed, the Democrats who control Columbus destroy public education in a more covert method.
Senate Bill 293 is a harmful voting bill that would do away with the four-day grace period for postmarked ballots arriving after election day. The bill also contains a grab bag of unfunded provisions including citizenship verification and data checks that will drastically increase the number of provisional ballots, and place a burden on elections officials.
If the bill is signed into law, mail ballots will have to arrive by 7:30pm on election day or they won’t be counted. That will result in thousands of legally cast ballots being left uncounted because of delays in the US postal service!
Tell Governor DeWine to veto the bill. When he signed another voter suppression bill in 2023, DeWine said Ohio’s elections were already good and didn’t need more changes:"I believe with the enactment of the new election integrity provisions in House Bill 458, this matter should be settled, and I do not expect to see any further statutory changes to Ohio voting procedures while I am Governor."
Yesterday, Ohio’s Republican supermajority passed a bill to re-criminalize marijuana and completely change the law Ohioans passed in 2023.
Over Thanksgiving, when you were enjoying some downtime with your family and friends, AEP pulled a fast one.
During a routine review of the administrative rules about rooftop solar, AEP filed a comment at 4:30 p.m. on the day before Thanksgiving asking the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio for new rules that would significantly raise costs for people with solar panels.
The way this would happen is through a process called net metering. Under net metering, AEP gives a customer credit when their solar panels put more electricity onto the grid than the customer is using.
The peace prize given to Donald Trump by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) is probably as legitimate as the golf tournaments he wins on his own golf courses, which, for some reason, never have any video footage attached to them.
What better way to repair your image after a corruption scandal than to be seen hanging out with Donald Trump? Next time, involve Donald Trump in your corruption, and you won't hear the term “federal prosecutors.
With Netflix and Paramount both trying to purchase Warner Bros., I expect them not to outbid so much, but to out-bribe for Donald Trump's approval.

Mobb Deep’s 2025 song with the Clipse Look At Me is the winning conversation for both DSA and the Extreme Centre:

Do y’all remember No More Prisons.
No More Prisons was a grassroots movement which denounced the prison industrial complex. No More Prisons deemed prison for profit unhealthy for a society to decide imprisioning people was lucrative.
On December 10 every year, the world observes Human Rights Day, commemorating the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the United Nations General Assembly in 1948, according to the official UN website.

Columbus City Schools (CCS) are facing their greatest challenge in years. Not only does the district have a “D” rating for quality, but now must cut over 50 million dollars from their budget (thanks to the state Republicans and their hatred of public education).
As a former teacher (both public and private schools) I’ve been following the steps that CCS has, and has not, been taking. Most important:
The excessive number of administrators in the Central Office, andHow those Central Office administrators have their STRS pension payments not deducted from their paychecks (like every teacher), but instead paid for by CCS.I care about the future of Columbus and a strong CCS is vital for our success. Therefore, I took it upon myself to email every member of the CCS Board of Education; twice. Everyone, except one person ignored my questions.
So thank you to Jennifer Anne Adair for not only reading my email but even responding. Part of her reply included:
I made five posts yesterday/today on my school board Facebook explaining how we got here, the choices, and impacts. These are my personal statements, but reflect the facts.
