The tragic arrogance & greed behind re-opening this 50-year-old nuke is beyond staggering.
See KILLING OUR OWN: THE DISASTER OF AMERICA'S EXPERIENCE WITH ATOMIC RADIATION to grasp nuke power's long-term threat to human existence.
I was at TMI in January, 1980, interviewing the victims. It was horrifying

When the Olympics return to Los Angeles in 2028, we can make history— and vastly lower our electric rates, clean our air and employ our people— by making sure the Games are 100% powered with local-generated solar energy.
That clean green electricity should not be wired in via an obsolete, over-stressed grid, coming from places that should otherwise be left in their natural state. Instead we have four full years to cover every appropriate southern California rooftop with photovoltaic cells.
That would mean installing solar arrays atop this mega-city’s many square miles of wahouses, businesses, factories and homes. It would also embrace our parking lots and structures, sports stadia, aqueducts, canals, rivers, reservoirs, all powering local-based micro-grids that can save billions in unnecessary generation and transmission costs.
This Olympian deployment would be a great long jump for southern California’s power supply. As we’ve seen from the state’s 1.8 million rooftop PV installations, solar-generated electricity can be far cheaper than anything coming from fossil or nuclear fuels.
In bio-evolutionary terms, the ascendance of Kamala Harris is a transformative moment in human evolution. The majority of the human race is female… and other than caucasian.
A male of color has been President of the United States. A female Prime Minister of Germany, Europe’s dominant power, commanded Earth’s fourth-largest economy… and turned it away from nuclear power.
Females have led ancient China when it was already Earth’s most populous nation. A woman has recently led India, the world’s second.
But after an eon of white male domination, the human race now stands at the brink of elevating a woman of color to be our species’ primal leader. Shirley Chisholm said in 1972 that the resistance against her becoming president as a woman was far stronger than as a black person. In 2016, Hillary Clinton beat a quintessential white male abuser by 3 million votes… but still he became president.

FirstEnergy was the company behind the largest political bailout and bribery scandal in Ohio history, which funneled $61 million in dark money bribes to Ohio lawmakers in order to pass a $1.3 billion nuclear and coal bailout at the expense of every Ohio family that pays utility bills.
President Joe Biden has signed the ADVANCE Act, a measure passed overwhelmingly by both houses of the U.S. Congress which promotes nuclear power.
“I signed the ADVANCE Act, a bipartisan win for American energy security, innovation and achieving economy-wide, net-zero emissions by 2050. Clean nuclear power and good union jobs. That’s what the ADVANCE Act will help deliver,” declared Biden on his “President Joe Biden” Facebook page on July 9th after signing the measure sitting at his desk in the Oval Office of the White House surrounded by a group of its Congressional supporters.
The “ADVANCE” stands for “Accelerating Deployment of Versatile, Advanced Nuclear for Clean Energy.”
WHAT? Join us for an online expert briefing for members of Congress and their staffs, relevant agencies, advocates, journalists, and concerned citizens on the growing problem of radioactive contamination of US food and water and what Congress can do about it. The briefing features leading researchers and advocates and is organized by the Fukushima Fallout Awareness Network (a project of the National Institute for Science Law & Public Policy) and co-sponsored by the NGOs Beyond Nuclear, Citizens for Health, Ecological Options Network, Food and Water Watch, San Clemente Green, Physicians for Social Responsibility (PSR National as well as PSR’s Greater Boston, Los Angeles, and San Francisco Bay Area chapters).
The “ADVANCE Act,” a bill to promote nuclear power, was passed 88-to-2 in the U.S. Senate last week. The ADVANCE stands for “Accelerating Deployment of Versatile, Advanced Nuclear for Clean Energy.” The only senators voting against it were Edward Markey of Massachusetts and Bernie Sanders of Vermont.
It was approved in the House of Representatives in May, also by a lopsided margin: 393-13. And it now has gone to President Joe Biden,
Among the many points in the bill are fast-tracking the federal licensing process for new nuclear power plants notably those described as “advanced,” reducing licensing fees, allowing ownership of nuclear facilities in the U.S. by foreign nations, and establishing within the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission an Office of International Programs “to carry out the international nuclear export and innovation activities.”
The action by Congress comes amid what Kevin Kamps of the organization Beyond Nuclear says is “the biggest push for nuclear power that I’ve experienced in 32 years of anti-nuclear power activities.”
The great former California Public Utilities Commission Chair LORETTA LYNCH gives us a deep dive into the brutal battle over the Diablo Canyon nukes and the additional $400 million the once-green Governor Gavin Newsom wants to hand his pals at Pacific Gas & Electric.
MYLA RESON, TATANKA BRICCA, PAUL NEWMAN, RON LEONARD, LINDA SEELEY and STEVE CARUSO jump into this truly electrifying mega-theft being perpetrated on the people of California.
We then hear from KEN STERN on the dark, dire history of the trials of LEONARD PELTIER and the reality of his last parole hearing.
As we explore the horrific 50-year injustice done to this beloved AIM activist, JAMES STARKEWOLF reminds us of the early travesties accompanying this horrible persecution.
We hear further about the possibility of having Congress appoint a new member to the Parole Board that might restore Leonard’s freedom.
MYLA RESON then fills us in on the vital upcoming election at the Pacifica Radio Network.
VINNIE DESTEFANO gives us a quick update on the case of JULIAN ASSANGE.

“One cannot exist without the other. Without civil nuclear power, there can be no military nuclear power, and without military nuclear power, there is no civil nuclear power.” – French President Emmanuel Macron
“Imagine a death technology calling itself a nuclear renaissance. All it is, is a nuclear rebirth of an even more gouging crony capitalism, or corporate welfare system.” – Ralph Nader
Nuclear power in the US is in decline…42 reactor projects were abandoned, 41 built but closed, and scores now operate only thanks to government rescues…Nuclear power is a minor distraction, adding each year at best only as much electricity supply as renewables add every few days. It has no business case or operational need anywhere. - Amory Lovins
[C]ivilian nuclear power is merely a cover for producing more nuclear weapons.” – Alfred Meyer
