Many voters have real concerns about potential ICE or other law enforcement at the polls on Election Day.The National Police Accountability Project (NPAP) just released a bilingual (English/Spanish) "Know Your Rights" guide for voters who encounter police or ICE agents at their polling place. You are welcome to publish these as resources with credit to NPAP.
Also, NPAP's Executive Director Lauren Bonds is available to answer questions/provide comment before and during Election Day, as well as Election Night. She is the lawyer you want on speed dial, if something happens around the country. Reach out to media@communicationsshop.us to book her as soon as possible.
The new NPAP guide covers:
- When law enforcement presence at a polling site is — and isn't — legal
- Why ICE agents and National Guard troops cannot lawfully be deployed to polling locations
Step-by-step guidance on what to do if an officer approaches you while you're trying to vote - Where to call for immediate help (including Spanish-language hotlines)
Download, publish, and share the guides in English and Spanish today! Email media@communicationsshop.us to set up an interview with Lauren in English or one of NPAP's Spanish-speaking Board members.
