When I first encountered this story, I tended to believe it since it was sandwiched in among a bunch of other stuff that appeared to be true (eg that Rove probably leaked Wilson's wife's name and status as a CIA agent to Robert Novak). However, I could find no independent verification of any of the nexus of claims -- no proof that Wilson referred to Rove's grandfather as Roverer, no listings on the web for Roverer at all except in various version's of Al Martin's story, no listing for the "Roverer Sud-Deutche Ingenieurburo A.G." firm or the name Roverer anywhere in the extensive archives of Nizkor, which is the principle website documenting Hitler's genocide of the Jews to debunk "Holocaust deniers" in the nazi camp. The original citations of the story and Al Martin's original story gave Roverer as the gauleiter of another death camp, Mecklenburg (incorrectly, as the gauleiter of that camp was identified and executed after the war as a war criminal and his name was not Roverer). I don't know if the substitution of Oldenburg for Mecklenburg is a belated attempt to deal with that (I sent Al Martin two messages seeking any documentation of his claims but received no reply). A google search for gauleiter of mecklenburg will turn up many versions of martin's story and eventually the authentic data on the gauleiter of mecklenburg, but nothing else independently authenticating a Roverer in such a post; a google search on gauleiter of oldenburg will turn up nothing, period.
Propagating nonsense like this only serves to discredit the truths that it may be associated with, by contamination. Please be more careful, and more discriminating. Reality is quite damning enough in relation to Schwarzenegger, Rove, and Bush. Quoting Al Martin's concoctions just gives people an excuse to dismiss all the rest of it. Stick with Martin Lee, a much more credible scholar.
