This is it. Governor DeWine has until Wednesday, June 24 to sign Senate Bill 219 into law or veto it. After that, the bill automatically becomes law.

So this is our last chance to make sure he hears us.

Last year, DeWine vetoed Big Oil's fracking wish list when they tried to sneak it into the state budget. This year they brought all of it back as SB 219; 47 pages of favors for the oil and gas industry. It would speed up every step of the process to frack Ohio's state parks and public lands, allow drilling INSIDE our parks for the first time, curtail ODNR's ability to regulate fracking permits and orphan wells, and let companies that cause spills or break the rules walk away without a punishment.

Gov. DeWine stood up to the industry before. Let's call on him to do it again.

Here are two ways to reach him today:

1. Call his office: 614-466-3555 or 614-644-4357

Hi, my name is [your name] and I'm calling from [your full address if leaving a message]. I'm calling to urge Gov. DeWine to veto Sub SB 219. He has already vetoed many of this bill's provisions when the oil and gas industry tried to sneak them into last year's state budget. Sub SB 219 drastically speeds up every step in the process to frack Ohio state parks and public lands. It reduces ODNR discretion to regulate fracking, and hands oil and gas companies longer leases, more time to pay, and fewer consequences. Gov. DeWine stood up to the industry before. Ohioans are counting on him to do it again. Please veto Sub SB 219! Thanks for your consideration.

Voicemail full? Call back in 15 to 30 minutes.

2. Write his staff: SEND A LETTER TO DEWINE'S OFFICE

Please use one of our template letters or write your own.

You can also contact DeWine directly through his website.

After you reach out, tell us how it went.

3. Then keep it going:

  • Share this email. Send it to a friend, a neighbor, anyone who loves Ohio's parks. They need to know this bill is on DeWine's desk and the clock is running out.
  • Forward it personally. The most powerful ask is the one that comes from someone we trust.
