Hi- My name is [your name] and I’m calling from [your full address if leaving a message]. I urge [elected official] to support legislation that imposes some requirements on data center customers. HB 706, for example, insulates customers from rate increases caused by data centers and makes data centers cover the utilities’ costs if projects are abandoned after utilities have made investments. These safeguards are important. However, they are not sufficient to address data center damage to the environment. Please consider adding a provision to HB 706, or to other similar legislation, that would encourage data centers to use wind and solar energy with energy storage backup. This would minimize air pollution and protect our state parks from resorting to further fracking to feed data centers. Thanks for your consideration.
