Our Beautiful Blue Tsunami Demands the Death of Fossil/Nukes & the Birth of a New Solartopian Deal

Tuesday’s beautiful blue tsunami needs to forever kill fossil/nuke power and birth the Green Solartopian New Deal.

Trump’s mega-billion “nuclear renaissance” fed the inflation that put the Democrats in power.

The Dems can end it by killing the mega-billion handouts Trump wants for the lethal reactor industry in which he’s personally invested.  

An “all the above” energy policy won’t cut it; going all in for solar, wind, geothermal and batteries will. 

Atomic reactors currently waste tens of billions of dollars in soaring costs and state and federal handouts.  Nearly all mainstream Democrats support nearly all of them.  

The primary beneficiary of these subsidies is Trump’s Epstein billion/trillionaire class.  At its core, nuclear power is fascist power, inseparable from data centers, AI and corporate/oligarch domination.  

Even with the subsidies, reactor-generated electricity is vastly more expensive than virtually all renewables, including wind, solar and geothermal, especially with radical recent advances in battery backups. 

In rational market terms, there is zero economic reason to pursue nuke power.  

Virtually all commercial atomic energy exceeds, in price, all renewable generation.

Along with their exorbitant costs, nuclear reactors are virtually uninsured.  The Dems can end that immunity with the immediate repeal of the 1957 Price-Anderson Act.

Nukes threaten the public safety, poison the global ecology and spew countless tons of unmanageable radioactive wastes, contaminating the planet for eons.  They also spew radioactive carbon while operating at 550 degrees Fahrenheit, directly heating the planet.

Trump has direct investments in the reactor industry.  By killing his atomic handouts and converting to renewables, the Dems can lower all American consumer and manufacturing prices. 

They can also kill the unhinged industry plan to restart long-dead “zombie” reactors like Michigan’s Palisades, which has already flirted with major disaster.  Small Modular “crypto” Reactors meant to power data centers are also soaring in cost, and need to be buried.    

Despite enormous Dem-backed public subsidies, industry-wide stock prices have recently plummeted by 75% and more.  Holtec of New Jersey has just cancelled a $900 million IPO in the wake of its latest Keystone Kops accident at the Palisades nuke it wants to re-start.  .  

Ed Markey, the newly re-elected US Senator from Massachusetts, has joined Bernie Sanders (VT), AOC (NY), Ro Khanna (CA) and other progressive Dems to push a “Green New Deal” that makes our energy safer, cheaper, cleaner, more reliable, and faster-to-build with democratized renewables.

To lower prices, end climate chaos, return sustainable industry and full employment  to the US, the transition to a renewable-based economy is the Dems’ surest route to long-term popular power.  Worldwide, humankind gets far more energy from renewables than it does from nukes.  That’s the real future of both industrial and political power.

But Democrat governors Whitmer (MI), Pritzker (IL), Healey (MA) Shapiro (PA) have joined , Senators Whitehouse (RI), Kelly (AZ) and others at the feet of the nuke industry.

That’s got to stop.

In the curl of this week’s anti-fascist tsunami, the Dems must turn those tens of billions Trump has earmarked for nukes to solar, wind, geothermal and batteries.  

To do what this beautiful green tsunami demands, the party as a whole needs to join Markey, AOC and the truly progressive Dems in getting us to Solartopia.
