Trump’s latest attack on Iran primarily means to shred the last lines of American democracy and enthrone Trump as forever warlord/dictator.
Formally known as “Operation Epic Fury,” it’s really “Operation Epstein Desperation.”
Here are a baker’s dozen of its many pillars:
1. THE EPSTEIN BOMB: The Epstein/FBI files may definitively confirm that Trump has indeed abused underage women. At least one Trump victim may be set to testify. Bill Clinton’s appearance before Congress erased any alleged barrier against ex-Presidents testifying in a public hearing.
2. MAGA RAGE: Final proof of his pedophilia could shatter Trump’s core MAGA support. The fate of the pedo formerly known as Prince Andrew is a red flag. As is the relentless fury of once-devoted MAGA women like Marjorie Taylor Greene, and among Christian Nationalist men who are actual Christians. Thus Trump’s wag-the-dog desperation for a military diversion.
3. FASCISM NEEDS A WAR: Trump’s ICE/Gestapo attacks on our basic rights need a war for total justification. Big, heavily armed Iran won’t go lightly, allowing Trump to invoke martial law for a totalitarian police state.
4. CANCELLING 2026: Trump wants to abolish the 2026 mid-term elections. War will be his pretext.
5. SHREDDING THE VOTE: If Trump can’t kill 2026 outright, the fog war could cover decimating the electorate. Steve Bannon wants ICE to terrorize every polling station. Proposed voter ID and other kill-democracy ploys could disenfranchise millions of married women, citizens of color, the millions who lack passports and birth certificates, et. al. Procedural manipulation could decide yet another unprotected election.
6. SEIZING THE MEDIA: As the bombs fall, mega-billionaire Trumpists Larry and David Ellison buy Warner, which includes CNN. Having already trashed CBS, the Washington Post, LATimes, etc, Trump’s minions are fashioning an Orwellian death grip on the news. The Paramount-Warner deal makes no economic sense. But with the Iran attack it fits the terrifying reality of a totalitarian media coup.
7. NUCLEAR WAR: After claiming previous attacks had destroyed Iran’s ability to make nuclear weapons, Trump justifies this one by saying Iran was close to making nuclear weapons (which is ever-simpler to do). So which is it? Are we about to find out?
8. NUCLEAR ENERGY WAR: The Iran attack will trash global energy systems, especially at the Straits of Hormuz. The Trump family has bought deeply into atomic power. He’s wrecked safety standards at all 94 US commercial reactors, and at some dead ones he wants to restart (see Roger Rapoport on Palisades). The bi-partisan Big Lie “nuke renaissance” media machine will make more nukes somehow seem necessary
9. NUKE REACTOR SITTING DUCKS: As we see at Ukraine’s Chernobyl and Zaporizhzhia, all atomic reactors are vulnerable to every imaginable terrorist nightmare, even when shut. The impossible demand for total reactor security is an open door to a fascist state.
10. WAR ON SOLARTOPIA: Supported by Democrat Governors like Newsom (CA), Hochul (NY), Pritzker (IL), Whitmer (MI), Shapiro (PA) et al, Trump’s all-out war against wind, solar, geothermal, battery storage and more is escalating. Renewables are the ultimate alternative to wars rooted in fossil/nukes. But the Trump dementia will demand more fossil/nukes while mocking the soft path meant to avoid all this.
11. LET THEM EAT LIVER: Health Secretary RFK, Jr.’s bewildering attacks on health science have revived zombie plagues like measles, and injected confused bio-terror into the American mindset, especially among parents. An Iran war could involve biological weaponry. Where does that leave us?
12. WHY NOT PUTIN? Russia’s Ukraine terror has killed countless innocents. The Trump-Putin-Epstein money-laundering three-way (see David Cay Johnston & Craig Unger) could eventually overshadow the pedo scandal. Putin does big business with Iran. Stay tuned.
13. MARCH 28’s NO KINGS/NO NUKES MARCH: The previous “NO KINGS” uprisings put millions in the streets. Coming on the anniversary of the 1979 reactor disaster at Three Mile Island, this month’s NO KINGS/NO NUKES turnouts could exceed 10 million, approaching the 3.5% critical mass many say could prompt regime change, especially if followed by a general strike. A desperate Trump could well use an Iran war as pretext to ICE it all down.
