This event will feature one of the sponsors of S.B. 103, Senator Nickie Antonio (D-Cleveland) who will speak to why the time is right for repeal. Joining Senator Antonio will be Ngozi Ndulue from the Death Penalty Information Center who will discuss the national trend toward death penalty abolition and why Ohio has a chance to lead the country! Plantastic Columbus is hosting an outdoor plant-based potluck on Sunday, June 27 at 1pm. All are welcome.
If you feel comfortable with participating, please bring a whole food plant-based dish to share with everyone who attends (details are below). If you do not feel comfortable, no worries — we’d still love to have you join! Also, please bring along a towel and/or chair for you to sit on.
Please ensure that your dish is:
• whole food plant-based, which means primarily made from unprocessed, unrefined fruits, vegetables, legumes, grains, nuts and seeds, etc.
• made with little to no added oils, and is
• free from animal-derived products, such as meat, dairy, egg, fish, etc.
If you are able, please bring a copy of your recipe for people to pass around / take a picture of, as well as the necessary serving utensils that your dish requires, such as a ladle if you bring soup.

Friday morning, June 25, 2021 ComFest will unveil it’s new and improved site with the kick off of it’s 2021 Virtual ComFest.
The new site will include 3 broadcasts, 2021 recorded entertainment performances and workshops, never seen historic performances and workshops, our grants, our Street Fair and many other aspects of the festival. We will also be highlighting almost every program guide since the beginning.
The great thing is you can join in real time or enjoy the festival at your leisure.

On Friday, June 18 and Monday, June 21, members of the Ohio Community Rights Network (OHCRN) delivered letters, along with packets of information, to nine county prosecuting attorneys and the Ohio Attorney General’s Office demanding investigations be opened involving public safety related to water supplies throughout the state.

HB 294, the voting reform bill that I notified you about in recent weeks, is still pending in committee at the Statehouse. There are still portions of the bill that will depress turnout and make it harder to vote. There is a rally on Thursday, June 24th from 10 am until 12 pm at the Ohio Statehouse.If you or any of your activists are available, please join. Join Equitas Health Institute Lead Trainer Ramona Peel (she/her/hers) and Equitas Health Public Policy and Civic Engagement Manager Zach McCune (he/him/his) for a discussion of the ongoing legislative attacks aimed at the trans and non-binary community in statehouses nationwide, including right here in Ohio. This webinar will include an explanation of the motivations and goals of these transphobic bills and will conclude with practical tips on how you can stop these bills from becoming law. This is a free webinar and will include a question-and-answer session with Zach and Ramona.
