Columbus Communiy Abolition Collective Abolition Study Group

The Columbus Communiy Abolition Collective (CCAC) is a reading- and discussion-based study group on abolition. For our Fall 2026 Session, we will focus on community-based knowledge of abolition.

Parsons Branch Library Meeting Room 2

Our August session we will commemorate “Black August” by engaging Chapter 7 of The Black Antifascist Tradition by Jeanelle K. Hope and Bill V. Mullen. This chapter provides a historical overview of “Abolitionist Antifascism.” Hope and Mullen highlight how generations of black activist groups have challenged the prison system.

We are excited to feature multiple Columbus organizations: The Returning Artists Guild (SEP), 614 ICE Watch (OCT), & Black Men Build (NOV). These sessions will be held at The Columbus Metropolitan Library - Parsons Branch.

In coordination with the Returning Artists Guild & Craft Raccoon, we will also be holding an Art Supply Drive for formerly/currently incarcerated artists during the month of September.

Session III culminates in an open-to-the-public “People’s Symposium” on Dec. 5th featuring collaborative sessions with these organizations. The symposium will be held at the African American and African Studies Community Extension Center.

Join us for our first study session of the Fall on Wed, Aug 5th at 6pm at Columbus Metropolitan Library-Parsons (Meeting Room 2) for a discussion about the Black Antifascist Tradition and abolition!
