Democracy in Columbus Campaign

Columbus DSA was recently elected to the Executive Committee of the Our City Our Say coalition, formally bringing us to the table to help bring this work to success. Our Chapter has committed to gathering at least 3,000 of the 25,000 signatures of the coalitions goal, and we are already off to a great start after this past weekend's event. We look forward to working with our current partners, and any new partners we are able to bring into the coalition, to see the change we need to see in our city.

We need your help to make this Campaign a success. Getting to our 3,000 signature goal -- and exceeding it as we hope to do -- will only happen through the work of us all and our collective collaboration towards this Chapter priority. Join our Campaign meeting this Thursday, April 2 at 7pm on zoom, and signup to join the Campaign and meet with our organizers doing the work at dsacb.us/DistrictCampaign.

Columbus City Council does not represent everyday working people in the city, and they recently created a fake Districts system to ensure they never have to.

Columbus has 9 Districts for the 9 Council seats, but the people of those Districts don't vote for the person in their seat alone: the entire City votes on every single seat. This allows more affluent neighborhoods to determine every election for every seat, even if the District represents working-class neighborhoods.

If you care about democratic representation, want Columbus neighborhoods to be able to have a say in who represents them, or are unhappy about Columbus City Council's complete lack of action on rising rent prices, lack of good union jobs, unreliable buses, or any material benefits for working people at all, then join our campaign to create real Districts and Democracy in Columbus.

This is the first vital step to change in Columbus.

Join us and our growing coalition in this work!
