Paisha Thomas and Bill Cohen will sing the songs that non-violent civil rights demonstrators sang to embolden themselves in the early 1960’s, when blacks and whites marched together, were beaten together, and were sometimes killed together as they campaigned for simple human rights.
The songs will punctuate vintage film footage of some of the major triumphs and tragedies of the early civil rights movement. Among them:
• 1960 lunch counter sit-ins
• 1961 freedom rides

Instead of spending the day at the mall buying tons of stuff we don’t really need, guitarist and pianist Bill Cohen offers another option as he sings songs expressing gratitude for the things that really matter in our lives — friends, family, freedom, nature, music, art, and more.
$10 per person donations will be accepted at the door.
