Michelle Bird is a first-time candidate running to end dark money in politics. She is an advocate for ranked-choice voting and a proponent of the Montana Plan— a new approach to short-circuiting Citizens’ United. Originally from California, Michelle worked in high tech in the Silicon Valley and left that to run a small business. She moved to Columbus in 2023 with the idea of renovating a fixer-upper in German Village. Renovations are on hold, however, as repairs to our government are urgently needed.
Ukeme Awakessien Jeter is a candidate for State Representative for Ohio House District 7. She will join us from 1-2 p.m. Campaign site: https://www.ukemeforus.com
Bio
Ukeme Awakessien Jeter is the Mayor and Council President of Upper Arlington, where she has led on major community investments, housing and land use policy, civic engagement, and government transparency. A proud immigrant, Ukeme is an engineer, a lawyer, and currently serves as Assistant Dean for Global Education at Moritz College of Law. She is also a mother of two, which inspires her leadership and commitment to building a stronger future for the next generation.
