Apology to the Iranian People

Apology painted on wall

We are sorry – for the bombs and missiles raining over your cities causing death and destruction. As most U.S. citizens still haven’t realized what we have done.

Why are we bombing Iran?

To protect Israel? To distract us from the Epstein files? Or is it for control of your oil reserves?

I’m just as confused as why I should take the time and effort to hate the Iranian people. I’ve had Iranian co-workers and our biggest arguments were whether Iranian tea or Hawaiian Kona coffee was better.

I don’t hate the Iranian people.

And (unless you have forgotten) we invaded Iraq on the false pretense that they had weapons of mass destruction. We killed over a hundred thousand Iraqis for no other reason than to control their oil. U.S. has a bad track record helping other people in the middle east.

This military action has no end and no clear objective. That might be on purpose.

We elected someone to be our President who is not only unpredictable and a narcissist, but also lacks empathy (that’s not taking into account our broken electoral college system which is a by-product of slavery).

And most in the U.S. don’t know our own history either.

We were responsible for putting the Shah into power to rule Iran as a dictatorship.

The Shah killed thousands of Iranians so oil companies could make more money. Those same oil companies control both the Democrats and Republicans in the U.S. now. I don’t know much about your politicians, but ours are easily bought with campaign donations or a trip to “Epstein Island.” We put the Shah in power and most in the U.S. have no idea the damage he inflicted on the Iranian people.

Always enough money for bombs and missiles.

Consider our “military industrial complex” that consumes billions of dollars every year while the average U.S. citizen struggles to pay their rent and food for their family. With new targets to destroy in Iran these companies will continue to make more profits. As U.S. citizens, we still have not come to grips with this yet. We have literally sold our future away just to build weapons to kill other people we disagree with.

Trillions of dollars in debt.

Iran knows that the U.S. government is in debt trillions of dollars, but our politicians still refuse to tax the rich or make helping people a priority. We only have ourselves to blame. Most in the U.S. don’t even vote and signs indicate that our president is in the process of limiting that in the future.

Again, we could have negotiated our differences, but our president is an awful person and the real power in U.S. rests in drilling for oil and building expensive weapons.

I apologize to the Iranian people. If I were you, I would fight back too. We’re both patriotic and love our own country. If somebody was dropping bombs on Cleveland or Cincinnati, I would be the first person to enlist.

We also worry about our future.

The path we are following seems to only lead to more chaos. For the average Iranian it’s worse than that. You have bombs hitting your cities and killing your friends and family. Again, I don’t have the power to change this stupidity. We can, however, agree that the U.S. President is the worst example of what we aspire to be.

Please accept my apology on behalf of a confused, bankrupt, and abused U.S. citizens.

My apology won’t bring back the lives lost by either country, but somebody needs to apologize. Killing each other is a terrible way to understand our differences.

And, Iranian tea is just as fantastic as Hawaiian Kona coffee.
