Did you know there are crucially important local elections coming up this November? These city council, school board and municipal judge races don't get the media coverage that presidential elections do, but in many ways have a more direct impact on our lives every day. They make decisions about our schools, recreation centers, police departments and more that have huge impacts on the lives of youth and families in our community. Celebrate NVRD with us! We will be meeting at 1135 E. Livingston Ave from 4-6pm for our CANVASS. Then we will PARTY with a PURPOSE from 6-8pm. Facebook.

Wednesday, September 18, 7-8:30pm, First Unitarian Universalist Church, 93 W. Weisheimer Rd.
Join the First Unitarian Universalist Church for a screening of the “Food Chains” documentary, a part of their ongoing film series.
“Food Chains” looks at the lives and the working conditions of farmworkers and focuses on the Coalition of Immokalee Workers and the Fair Food Program they designed.
“Food Chains” is a documentary that chronicles the Fair Food Program and demonstrates its novelty in effecting substantive change throughout the agriculture system. In fact, other workers are using that program model for many other industries.
A short presentation, discussing the program’s economic impact and the role of faith in the program’s impact on human rights, will follow.
Hosted by Ohio Fair Food.
Wednesday, September 18, 1-3pm, Ohio Statehouse
An Intersectional March will begin (promptly) at 12:30pm at Columbus Commons, 160 S. High St. Please bring signs, posters, and photos. The rally, “End Gun Violence,” will begin at 1pm at the Ohio Statehouse.
History will long remember GrassRoots Organizations, Advocates, Community Organizers, Religious Leaders, and Concerned Ohio Residents who courageously, assertively, and heroically were on the side of unarmed men, women, and children who lost their “Heartbeat” to Police Violence, Gun Violence, Massacres, and Immigration Camps.
Be part of this important demonstration, hear from local and national leaders, spend time with your fellow social justice family, and help us build the power of the people.
Join our Social Justice Grassroots Organizations in demanding Mandatory DeEscalation Training, Mandatory Mental Health Interventions, Priority CPR, Gun Reform, and Saving Lives in the Great State of Ohio.
A Die-In / Lie-In will follow after the rally.
