I am a historian and preservationist in Columbus, and I am generally in support of the proposed legislation and support the clarification that historic districts won’t be disregarded with the new code. I nevertheless deeply urge a delay or even a “no” vote at this time, in order for a solution to be found for an alarming issue. I have raised this issue with the zoning team multiple times and have yet to hear a response. Your vote is the last potential for affecting change.
Columbus has an incredible array of historic, and architecturally significant, houses, churches, fire stations, schoolhouses, and more. The vast majority of these are not on any register, and will immediately be at a much higher risk of demolition if Zone In were to pass as is currently written. We will be at threat of losing much of our remaining historic heritage, and especially the most visible sites on these well-traveled corridors.
The recent assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump has highlighted a deeply troubling trend in American politics: the pervasive spread of misinformation and conspiracy theories. Figures like Senator JD Vance and Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene have propagated these theories, further fueling division.
Let’s face it: Donald Trump is in a stronger position than ever to win a second term in November, with his active supporters even more motivated in the wake of the shooting Saturday. Preventing a Trump victory is now unlikely. But we must try.

We well know by now that Trump remains the undisputed leader of the Republican Party and seemingly has the unwavering support of an electoral base numbering in the tens of millions. His cult-like base seemingly accepts his statements as absolute truths, even when they contradict or ignore the relevant verifiable evidence. They also believe falsely that global warming is a left-wing hoax.

The U.S. Green Party condemns the recent House passage of legislation to automatically register all males ages 18-26 for potential military conscription through the Selective Service System.
Despite President Biden's weak proposal for a ceasefire and a solution to Israel's genocide of Gaza, it appears that Benjamin (NutenYahoo) Netanyahu intends to kill them all if he can. At the same time, it is clear that Israel is nowhere close to eliminating Hamas, so the world is expected to watch this horror show for an extended period of time. The American public is shielded from the horror show by a compliant media, none of which showed the horrible image of a real beheaded (and burnt) baby which was seen by the rest of the world.
A grassroots coalition of queer and trans people of color, anti-Zionist Jews, and community organizers demands an end to the Israeli pink-washing of the genocide against Palestinians. The Free Palestine Coalition calls for a boycott of queer organizations that accept funding from weapons manufacturers and fossil fuel companies.
“Pink-washing”, or the strategy of using LGBTQ+ rights to distract from human rights abuses, is a propaganda technique used to detract attention from the oppression faced by Palestinians. Numerous corporations and governments are cynically employing LGBTQ+ rhetoric to garner progressive credentials while perpetuating violence and environmental destruction.
"We stand firm in our commitment to queer liberation, climate justice, and Palestinian liberation," said Komencanto Eterna, a local organizer for the Free Palestine Coalition.
Occupation and Resistance – the birth of one heralds the inevitable creation of the other. The existence of the first is the life blood which sustains the second, and the death of one signals the demise of the other. This symbiotic relationship between the two is innate and uncompromising.
This law of nature is written in stone. Humankind has known this self-evident truth from the beginning of time. It is also not new that man has forever failed to learn from his own experiences. What is ironic though is man”s ability to vacillate between the two, the Machiavellian capacity to adore or abhor as circumstances and self-interest dictate, regardless of universal moral and ethical values.
Instead of praising Gen Z for their courage, bravery and clear understanding of the US Constitution which enshrined, in its First Amendment, the guarantees of freedoms concerning religion, expression, assembly, and the right to petition, including protecting individuals' rights to free speech, and assembly in public spaces and settings, including public universities, the Attorney General of the Great State of Ohio sent a letter to Ohio's college presidents advising them that “prosecutors could use a generation-old law intended to curtail KKK activities to instead charge campus protesters with a felony,” as reported by the Columbus Dispatch.
