Since the blockade began, humanitarian organizations like UNICEF have warned that children are at an increasing risk of starvation, illness, and death. Over 9,000 children have been admitted for treatment for acute malnutrition since the start of the year, highlighting the urgent need for food and medical assistance. The blockade has been described as a "silent killer," with families resorting to sharing minimal food supplies, such as a single can of beans among several members of one family according to Al Jazeera report.
Personal stories from families in Gaza illustrate the heartbreaking reality of this crisis. For instance, a mother described her five-year-old son, who has become emaciated and is suffering from severe malnutrition, stating that he hasn't eaten meat in months due to the unaffordability of food. Healthcare providers are struggling to care for malnourished children, with reports of infants and young children dying from hunger and malnutrition-related complications, reported cbc.ca.
The IDF kills an average of 30 children each day in Gaza.
LOS ANGELES (May 12, 2025) Housing advocates from AHF’s Housing Is A Human Right (HHR) division and National Coalition for the Homeless blasted California Governor Gavin Newsom for his call earlier today on cities and towns across the state to ban homeless encampments —criminalizing many of their unhoused occupants in the process.
After two terms in office and despite allocating $24 billion in state funding to address the homeless crisis, Governor Newsom has little to nothing to show that he has meaningfully addressed homelessness in California. Worse, state officials under his watch cannot even account for how the $24 billion may have been spent.
In the 1930s and 40s, many Jews escaped persecution in Europe by sailing to Palestine for safety. Palestinians treated them then with open hearts but later the Jewish refugees took arms and attacked Palestinians by committing massacres to drive them out of their lands.
Each year on May 14, Israel celebrates Independence Day and Palestinians commemorate Nakba Day (catastrophe in Arabic). Prior to 1948, Israel has never existed on the map. Israel was planted in the heart of the Arab world by Western imperial powers. I still have a picture of my village taken by a New York Times photographer on May 14, being erased by Jewish terror groups. My village was totally flattened, the only remaining part left intact was part of the village mosque. My village name al-Sumayriyya- السميريه , Akka District, is located about 6 North of Akka and 6 miles south of the Lebanese borders.
Italy is predominantly Catholic, and it respects religious freedom and welcomes Muslim visitors. According to the latest information, major cities like Rome, Milan, and Venice have mosques and Islamic centers. Some tourist attractions offer prayer rooms, and many Italians are open-minded towards different cultures and religions.
Islam in Italy has a long history dating back to the 9th century when Muslim forces occupied parts of southern Italy. Today, Islam is the second-largest religion in Italy after Christianity. The Muslim population in Italy is estimated to be around two million, making up about 3.5 percent of the total population. Most Muslims in Italy are immigrants or children of immigrants from countries like Morocco, Albania, Tunisia, and Bangladesh. There are also a growing number of Italian converts to Islam.
I recall seeing a sign in a yard in my small hometown of around 12,000 residents. “No matter where you are from,” it said, “we’re glad you are our neighbor.”
It was positioned defiantly, facing a Trump sign that had been plunged into the neighbor’s yard across the street. It poignantly illustrated the tensions in my rural Ohio town, which — like many similar communities — has experienced a rapid influx of immigrants over the last 20 years.
The sign’s sentiment was simple yet profound. I found myself wondering then, as I wonder now, when compassion had become so complicated. It seems everyone has become preoccupied arguing over the minutiae of immigration that they’ve missed the most glaring and essential point: We are neighbors.
As the Circuit Courts and Supreme Court are increasingly called upon to correct immigration injustices, people are starting to realize that the U.S. immigration courts do not operate with independence and fairness.
We all want to live and raise our children in a safe place. Two immigrant parents thought they came to the United States for exactly that, only to have their dreams dashed in March.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested, detained, deported, and/or imprisoned many people that it has unilaterally determined to be undesirables. At first, they claimed they would deport only criminals, but it has already gone beyond that. We at the Free Press consider every person who has been sent to the Tecoluca (El Salvador prison), Guantanamo naval base, or detained in other prisons throughout the country to be innocent until proven guilty. We will include students who have been expelled for protesting genocide. It appears the government will revoke Visa's to get rid of undesirable students. This article will be updated as long as is necessary.

Piketon’s Town Hall will be a big deal for the community of Piketon, Ohio, which for 70 years has been suffering the effects of radioactive contamination from the Portsmouth Nuclear Site (PORTS), 4 miles south of the village.
The Town Hall will be hosted by reporter Duane Pohlman of WKRC TV in Cincinnati. It will be a forum to give voice to the people in the area who have suffered cancers and other illnesses in their families.
Several radioactive isotopes have been found in Department of Energy (DOE) monitors outside PORTS and in offsite samples taken for the DOE by Solutient Technologies and analyzed by Auxier & Associates. Dr. Michael Ketterer, professor emeritus of chemistry and biochemistry at Northern Arizona State University, will also speak. He has analyzed samples taken from outside PORTS and has also found radioactivity. Epidemiologist Joseph Mangano will speak online from New Jersey. He has reported that the premature death rate in Pike County is twice the national average. PORTS looms large as a suspect in these illnesses.
As Israel expands conflicts in the occupied West Bank, Lebanon, Yemen, and Syria, and resumes the genocide in Gaza, in part due to the Trump administration’s expressed desire to ethnically cleanse Gaza, questions remain about the status of Franklin County government investments in Israeli bonds.
