One extreme example from inside the Columbus Division of Police exposing how reckless and rogue some white male officers can be towards minority and women officers happened roughly two years ago when a female officer and a male officer were vying to run a high-profiled unit.
The white female candidate had more seniority over the white male candidate, and the female candidate won the promotion. But the male officers within the unit never wanted her to win the job and scoffed at her authority – and it soon turned ugly.
Who recalls the popular insurance commercial which portrayed a fisherman dangling a dollar bill with his fishing pole over the needy arms of young woman who desperately tried to swipe the dollar bill off the hook?
Soon after the female officer won the promotion, someone under her authority took time to create a poster which mocked her. They took a picture of her face and superimposed it on the face of the fisherman in the insurance commercial. As for the losing male candidate, they took his face and superimposed it on the young lady’s face.
A recent anti-human trafficking event at the Statehouse proclaiming to #SaveTheChildren was not entirely about saving children and more about promoting and recruiting for the surreal and disturbing QAnon “theory” that believes prominent lefties such as the Clintons, the Obamas, Oprah and Tom Hanks, are part of a secret pedophile cabal sacrificing children to Satan and drinking their blood.
About a 100 or so attended the event on August 29th and pictures from the event show people wearing “Q” masks, camo gear (holding automatic rifles of course), and some carrying pizza-slice signs.
Many of our readers are familiar with the QAnon bat-shit craziness, which is gaining serious traction with more and more people who are obviously in need of mental health services. But if you are not aware of Q, let us be absolutely clear and say it again: They believe high-profiled liberals are sacrificing…children…to drink their…blood.
Our local police-state apologist broadcast news stations, such as Sinclair-owned WSYX Channel 6, can’t resist to lead their shows with the bloody crime-of-the-day from some of our urban neighborhoods.
Nothing like a morning and nightly dose of urban violence to get out the conservative vote or push back against defunding the police. In case anyone needs reminding, Sinclair Broadcast Group, which owns roughly 200 local news stations, is pro-Trump and has ideas on rivaling Fox News.
Mayor Ginther has held three press conferences addressing this apparent spike in violence. And even though the call for less police has never been louder, Chief Quinlan has recently suggested more officers are needed to prevent gun violence.
If so, here's a run-down of what happened and how you can be involved next time!
We had some guitar-strumming music by our friend Tom Over, thank you Tom!
Lynn Tramonte of the Ohio Immigrant Alliance spoke about that group and the hideous circumstances of how immigrants are treated in Ohio. It was noted by attendee Judge Terri Jamison that four Ohio counties have contracts for ICE detentions: Butler, Geauga, Morrow and Seneca Counties. More information on how you can support their efforts is below.
“Five days isn’t enough time,” said a tearful Latosha Aaron-Gavin outside the temporary eviction courtroom at the Columbus Convention Center on a recent overcast morning.
The judge, while holding up the bright orange five-day set-out sticker, in a robotic tone had just told the 35-year-old mother her landlord was going to soon place the sticker on her front door.
Aaron-Gavin’s landlord is LINK Real Estate of Upper Arlington, which “proudly”endorsed City Council’s recent declaration that racism is a public health crisis.
“They’ve been telling me they just want their money, but they don’t care that my apartment floods every time it rains,” said Aaron-Gavin, who’s recent Amazon delivery job didn’t pan out.
She was also unable to receive unemployment and her stimulus check was used for March and April’s rent. She said she has paid rent to LINK for two years.
She wiped away another tear. “The pandemic put me here…”
Ohio's biggest-ever bribery case is rocking America's reactor industry…and the fall election.
Full details of the shocking arrest of Ohio's powerful Speaker of the House are still unfolding.
But on Monday the FBI charged Larry Householder and four associates with taking $61 million (that's NOT a typo) in bribes from “Company A,” suspected to be the Akron-based nuke utility FirstEnergy. The company has not been formally named as the source of the bribe, but FE’s stock has since plummetted.
Householder is suspected of buying votes for the widely hated $1.5 billion bailout of two decrepit nuke reactors on Lake Erie. Donald Trump lobbied at least five legislators to support the cash giveaway. Ohio’s moderate Republican Governor Mike DeWine has asked Householder to resign.
Without the bailout, Perry and Davis-Besse would already be dead in the rising tsunami of US reactor shutdowns.
The handout also supported two ancient coal burners (one in Indiana), and ten small solar plants. It killed a big, highly successful state-wide efficiency program and crippled further Ohio development of wind and solar.
On the night of July 2nd after protesters placed scores of balloons into a downtown street, Columbus Police on their public radio scanner talked about needing to arrest specific protesters, such as a young lady who has used a bullhorn to read from the book The End of Policing in front of police headquarters.
Here is the audio recording from that night.
The recording was posted by LGBQT and BLM activist Drew Michael Wunder, who is well-known by his “Bubble the Drag Queen” persona. The 26-year-old Wunder documents many protests on Facebook Live.
Activists have been reporting how Columbus police appear to be targeting specific protesters over the previous several weeks, utilizing unconstitutional tactics to ID, arrest and charge protesters. The police often fraudulently charge them with felony rioting, in some cases, when they are simply protesting peacefully.
But the scanner recording from the balloon protest offers actual smoking-gun proof.
A Florida election protection lawsuit filed July 1 could help decide the fall 2020 vote count.
Signed by three Florida Democratic legislators, the suit demands that electronic ballot images be preserved in accordance with federal law. The images are created when computerized scanning devices process paper ballots. Those images can then be counted to give a complete ballot tally within six seconds. The paper ballots are preserved for possible recounts.
By federal law the ballot images are considered part of the public record and, like the actual paper ballots, must be retained at least 22 months. The machines are used in at least 80 percent of the nation's voting stations.
But many Secretary of States and/or State election boards around the country simply erase the images, allowing local officials considerable leeway in determining the vote count. In Florida, which has been notoriously fluid in the accuracy of its outcomes, only 27 out of the 67 counties that we know of are preserving the ballot images.
Just how at-risk was Dr. Amy Acton when alt-right protesters showed up at the Ohio Statehouse and her home back in May?
And how at-risk could protesters and activists be on July 4th?
There are rumors circulating online saying white nationalists, Proud Boys, and perhaps those who lust for the “Boogaloo” will confront Black Lives Matter protesters this weekend.
These are rumors, the Free Press has not confirmed whether any alt-right response is official, but don’t forget what happened in Bethel, Ohio, when 800 bikers some armed showed up to confront peaceful protesters. One of the biker gangs that showed in Bethel was confirmed to be the racist-leaning and known drug dealing Iron Horsemen, which was founded in Cincinnati and on a Department of Justice watchlist.
Boogaloos Bois, as we’ve come to learn of late, are a loose-knit network of far-right gun-lovers who secretly yearn for a civil war against the government, lefties, and people of color.
