Dr. Dromgoole’s research is centered on gospel women musicians, ideas of Black girlhood — especially relative to the gospel artists she studies, and Black cultural hybridity. She is concerned with how Black women and girls shape identity within Black Christian respectability while navigating sexual and musical cultural economies.
