CEHV [OSU Center for Ethics and Human Values] is pleased to host the first of two one-day conferences as part of our Work COMPAS [Conversations On Morality, Politics And Society] program. This first conference, entitled “The Meaning of Work,” aims to explore questions about the place of work in a flourishing society and the beneficial or harmful nature of one’s relationship to work.

“Advocacy in Action: Gender Identity Inclusion,” hosted by City of Columbus Department of Neighborhoods

The Columbus Community Relations Commission (CRC) presents “Advocacy in Action: Gender Identity Inclusion.” This no-cost half-day forum provides insightful discussions and workshops for social workers, advocates, and residents regarding how to identify gender identity discrimination and how to address it. Registration is limited to 75 individuals. A light breakfast, lunch, and parking are provided.

2024 MORPC [Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission] Summit on Sustainability

Tuesday, October 29, 8am-4pm, Hilton Columbus Downtown, 402 N. High St.

The Summit on Sustainability will take place on Tuesday, October 29. This is MORPC’s signature environmental conference, bringing hundreds of community leaders together to explore and share sustainable ideas and solutions, and to celebrate individuals and collaborative sustainability efforts with the Regional Sustainability Awards. The Summit will feature two plenary sessions and breakout sessions that will focus on MORPC’s sustainability programs.

“Furniss Prize Lecture: China’s Grand Strategy,” hosted by Mershon Center for International Security Studies

Monday, October 28, 4:30-6pm, Ohio Union [Ohio Staters, Inc. Traditions Room], 1739 N. High St.

Rush Doshi, Assistant Professor of Security Studies at Georgetown University, Director of the China Strategy Initiative of the Council on Foreign Relations, and former Deputy Senior Director for China and Taiwan at the National Security Council, receives the 2021 Furniss Book Prize for The Long Game: China’s Grand Strategy to Displace American Order. Doshi will situate the book’s argument in current events.
