Human beings have been migrating for thousands of years. Come listen to powerful songs and stories that reflect on the human experience of leaving your home and, also, on what it means to welcome the stranger.

Singer songwriter Phil Hart will be joined by his buddies Steve Rolfe on bass and Perry Leatherman on mandolin and percussion doing a mix of original songs and beautiful covers of songs that speak to the emotional complexity of migrating.

West African griots are storytellers, memory-keepers, and historians of families, communities, and societies. On Friday, June 7, Cleveland’s Papa Assane M’baye, founder of TamTam Magic, will sample this oral tradition, with drummers, before a live audience at the Columbus Arts Festival. This event is co-hosted by the Ohio Immigrant Alliance and the Columbus Free Press.
