Juneteenth is an American National Federal Holiday celebrated by Americans of African Descent to commemorate when the last reported enslaved Black People in the South (in Galveston, Texas) had finally received the news that we were at last finally emancipated from U.S. Chattel Slavery.

Whether you call it Midsummer, Litha, or just the Solstice, come join us!
We will be at the first shelter house at Whetstone Park, behind the Park of Roses. Be sure to carpool if you can and watch out for other park-goers! We will begin to gather around 4:30pm to 5pm; the ritual will begin just after 6pm (when the folks working at the store make it).

June 28, 1969 marked the beginning of the Stonewall Uprising, a series of events between police and LGBTQ+ protesters that stretched over six days. While the Stonewall Inn and Uprising became well known due to the media coverage and the subsequent annual Pride traditions, it was simply the fulcrum upon which years of LGBTQ+ activism shifted.

Hungry Children Are Easy Prey!
There are more than 10,000 children at risk of violence, drugs, gangs, and human trafficking in the Hilltop area on the west side of Columbus. The annual median income of their families is $6,000. They are 200% below the poverty line. Their struggles with poverty, hunger, and a bad neighborhood with no recreation/enrichment opportunities make them easy prey for criminals to recruit them into their gangs.
