In the summer of 2021, the American Journal of Health Behaviour published a special issue sponsored by an e-cigarette manufacturer in which a tobacco company had a minority stake. The journal came under fire from anti-smoking charities and academics for accepting this funding. This case raises important and more general questions about what are the appropriate and “right” funding sources for academic literature. Are there funding sources that should always be rejected/accepted?

Head out to the beehives with a member of Stratford’s Apiary Team. You will get a first-hand look inside a living beehive to learn about how they work and live together! Please wear long pants with long socks to tuck your pants into and a long-sleeved shirt or jacket. We will provide veils.

Conversations about the human body are often heteronormative and cisgender/straight-centric. Talking about one’s body and changes can be difficult for many, especially when stigma and preconceptions exist. Diverse and beautiful, LGBTQ+ bodies need more safe spaces to discuss one’s unique and similar journeys. This OutTalk will discuss and celebrate LGBTQ+ body experiences — all colors, shapes, and sizes.

INDRA (Intersectional Non-conforming Diverse Renaissance of Asians) is OPAWL’s new LGBTQ+ caucus, focusing on community, solidarity, and queer/trans/non-binary representation for AAPI communities throughout Ohio.

This will be a candlelight vigil in honor of Jordan Brown. His life was taken unexpectedly on March 28 in a savage act of Intimate Partner Violence. We will gather at the Gazebo in Goodale Fountain at 6pm for the vigil; a Celebration of Life will follow at District West, 145 N. Fifth St. It will be a time to share memories and stories and show our support and love for Jordan.
