We are delighted to celebrate the new issue of Story Magazine! Come hang out and pick up a copy of the Spring 2019 issue, meet the staff and board, drink and eat and be merry, and say “howdy!” to a few of the contributors.

Story is a 501(c)3 based in Columbus, Ohio, and is committed to making stories accessible and vibrant. We are monster fans of our Ohio community: the cover art and two works of fiction from the issue feature Ohio authors.

More details to come!

Come send books to prisoners.

All of our activities are guided by what prisoners ask for and tell us they need. That means we do lots of different things as methods to support people inside.

We do all sorts of projects, like:

Setting up pen pals. Pen pals mean a ton to people in prison, and we have a big list of prisoners looking for someone to write to!

Sunday, March 17, 3-5:30pm, Southern Roots Sistah Center, 4343 E. Livingston Ave.

Sistahs, join us as we explore the topic: Strong Black Women.

• Are we helped or harmed when people identify us as the strong one?

• Are we able to get the support we need, when everyone is looking at us to be the strong one?

• Come out for great conversation, support, and sistahhood.

• We will break bread while we discuss different perspectives of the Strong Black Woman concept.

Saturday, March 16, 9am-1pm, United Methodist Free Store, 946 Parsons Ave.

Starting in March, we [Yes We Can: Columbus Working Families] will be hosting monthly volunteering events open to all members. As our movement continues to grow, we hope to be able to effect change not only politically, but also at the ground level by supporting organizations that are doing great work in the community.
