Saturday, June 16; lines up, beginning at 8:30am, in the Short North [on N. High St. between Fifth Ave. and Goodale St.]; steps off at 10:30am; travels to Genoa Park, 303 W. Broad St.

The first Pride march in Columbus, Ohio was held in June 1981. Only 200 people were in attendance, and some even wore bags over their heads to conceal their identities. This year, we celebrate the 37th year of Pride in Columbus.

Monday, June 11, 6-8pm, The Vanderelli Room, 218 McDowell St.

Pride started as a riot — and Marsha P. Johnson, legendary Black trans activist and elder, was there to see it through. Marsha worked throughout her life to protect and support transgender youth and sex workers, building S.T.A.R. [Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries] to serve and house her community. She wasn’t about white-washed and exclusive gay “movements” — and neither are we.

Riverfest has provided thousands of people with the opportunity to kayak and canoe on area rivers over the years. In 2017, more than 500 people with different backgrounds and experience levels had participated in this two-day event.

The Dances of Universal Peace are simple, meditative, and joyous circle dances that celebrate the variety of spiritual paths on Earth. If you like folk dancing, you’ll be right at home here. No previous experience is needed — just an open and willing attitude. Participation, not presentation, is the focus.
