Protest/Rally
The fight isn’t over! Yesterday, Mayor Ginther announced that Flock usage is being put on hold. This is not a victory until all surveillance cameras are taken down and all contracts with mass surveillance networks are ended! A contract pause is not enough! Guardrail legislation is not enough!
Now is the time to keep up the pressure on City Council to ensure that the Flock contract is not renewed in November. Show up, bring a friend, and let’s show Columbus City Council that we will fight against the surveillance of our neighborhoods!
The Safety Not Surveillance Coalition is heading back to City Hall via a motorcade. We will not allow @columbuscitycouncil to ignore us.
Meet us at PJP Headquarters at 4:30 for the motorcade to City Hall. We will arrive at 5pm and there will be a community rally against ALPR cameras from 5-7pm.
The Safety Not Surveillance Coalition demands:
1. Cancel all existing contracts with Flock Safety immediately.
2. Cover the cameras immediately and dismantle them as soon as possible.
We are taking the fight to them! Please join us on September 20th from 3-5PM at the Ohio Statehouse to demand an end to the legislative assault on transgender people and our rights!
Join us this Monday (8/24) at City Hall to show Columbus City Council that we don’t want Flock in our city!
Bring a friend, and bring a sign!
Name (and shame) Vivek for taking Elon Musk's $5 million in campaign contributions.
Join Popular Democracy, Ohio Organizing Campaign, Progress Grove City and your neighbors to tell Rep. Mike Carey we deserve care, not cruelty.
Where/ when:
Meet us to prep at Panera 10-12pm (1786 Stringtown Road, Grove City, OH)
Press Conference & Rally at 1pm at Rep. Carey's Office (140 E. Town Street, Suite 1200, Columbus, OH 43215)
This protest has moved to the Nationwide headquarters building, 1 E. Nationwide Blvd., Columbus, Ohio. We'll be on the High Street side of the building. We are protesting here because Nationwide Realty Investors, a subsidiary, is currently renting office space to ICE at 774 Park Meadow Rd in Westerville, Ohio. There is some street parking in the area and a number of parking garages.
FLOCK OUT OF COLUMBUS!
Come out to show CPD and Flock representatives that we stand against surveillance in our city and everywhere!
The Flock audit finally came out, and if you’re as pissed as we are, come out to Goodale on 7/19 at 3:30 to make some noise and fight back!
Rally against surveillance!
