Save Ohio Parks and 29 Organizations Demand Moratorium on Fracking Ohio State Parks and Public Lands
Save Ohio Parks and 29 environmental and advocacy organizations from across the state have delivered a letter to Gov. Mike DeWine demanding a moratorium on new or pending nominations, bids and leases to frack under Ohio’s beloved and pristine state parks and public lands.
“The Oil and Gas Land Management Commission has never discussed in a public meeting nine criteria it is mandated by statute to considered in deciding whether to frack Ohio’s state parks, wildlife areas and other public lands,” said Cathy Cowan Becker, president of the board at Save Ohio Parks. “An explosion last month at Gulfport well pad just five miles from Salt Fork State Park demonstrates how dangerous this industry can be. Public records show an average of 250 reported gas and oil accidents per year since 2015- one every 1.5 days.”
Save Ohio Parks is a statewide 501c(4) organization dedicated to educating the public about fracking under state parks and public lands. A lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of a 2023 law requiring fracking under Ohio public lands has not yet been decided.

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine’s recent executive order mandating that nearly all state employees return to the office full-time—five days a week by March 17, 2025—has ignited a debate over its potential to disrupt workforce retention and efficiency.

Perhaps nothing divides Americans more vehemently today than views regarding the subject of abortion. Thus, instead of fuming group outbursts and slick slogans (bromidic and not supported rationally or in intellectual depth by either side of the issue) entrenched individual personal opinions (some valid, some not), and (worst of all) punitive laws, a strictly clinical review of the issue is well overdue. This means objective consideration is required by those who will contemplate the subject with a logical mind, a cool temperament, and the willingness to use pure reason based on facts of reality.
The cognitive status of federal officials needs to be addressed. Too many of them manifest some degree of impairment and are not fit to serve in government. There is little question that our last president, Joe Biden, was intellectually diminished, and may have been suffering from a neurologic disorder. His speech was hesitant and slow when he wasn’t reading, he had difficulty answering questions, and his gait was abnormal. When he ran for president in 2020, he was more intact and deteriorated over the four-year course of his term. Biden is now 82 years old.
Our current president, Donald Trump, is 78 and will be 82 when he finishes his term. Trump at times misnames people and places when speaking and uses the wrong words occasionally. Some of his actions are impulsive, like his idea to take over Gaza, and some appear contradictory. It is unclear at this point whether he is mildly cognitively impaired, has a personality disorder, or possibly both. As people age, personality quirks, present when younger, tend to become more pronounced, particularly if cognitive difficulties have emerged.
