The Fair Food Program created by Coalition of Immokalee Workers (CIW) has ended abuse for tens of thousands of farmworkers in this decade. Ohio House Bill 6 would eliminate Ohio’s energy efficiency and clean energy programs. It would replace them with a charge on every Ohioan’s electric bill that would go to bail out First Energy’s crumbling leaking nuclear plants and two coal-fired plants, one of which is in Indiana.
Opponents to H.B. 6 will be gathering at three locations across the state during the first week in June [Toledo on June 3, Columbus on June 5, and Akron on June 7] to protest this unacceptable dirty energy tax on Ohioans. Wind and solar power are cheaper and can replace nukes and coal, but not if we are subsidizing the dirty power.

The Central Ohio Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (COADCDL) wants to know whether law enforcement in Ohio is using the controversial Stingray surveillance device in the Buckeye State. Some people think it is.
Technically, the Stingray is an IMSI-catcher. ISMI stands for International Mobile Subscriber Identity, meaning this device is meant to “catch” your conversations and communications, but also to extract stored data from your cell phone. The Stingray is a cellular phone spying device initially created by the Harris Corporation for the Deep State. Not only does the device track and locate you, it is designed to unlock encrypted content.
The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) tracks which federal, state and local law enforcement and intelligence use these devices for “spying without a warrant.” Ohio is listed as a state where it is “unknown” if the device is in operation. The ACLU lists 13 federal agencies as using the spying device, among them are the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Army/Navy/Marines, the National Security Agency, and Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Cinephiles and movie lovers are treated as passive and apolitical consumers in the profit driven commercial film industry. The new leftist, radical, and underground micro-cinema, NO EVIL EYE, offers audiences and artists in Columbus a politically charged space to nurture their love for the art of films. The personal is political. Art is personal and political.
Ingrid Raphaël and Rooney Elmi envisioned and materialized NO EVIL EYE. Ingrid is a video creator, archivist, educator and co-creator of GRID zine, a physical and digital zine highlighting the stories and experiences of black, brown, indigenous, people of color, immigrants and refugees living in the US. Rooney Elmi is a writer, programmer, and editor-in-chief of SVLLY(wood), an annual print and digital movie magazine geared toward curating a radical cinephilia. Their manifesto highlights their belief in bridging their leftist politics of anti-colonialism, internationalism, and solidarity with art.

I fought for over 8 years for medical cannabis legalization for Ohio's patients so when it became a reality in 2016, I wanted to take what I learned in my years of patient advocacy and participate in Ohio's budding new green industry. So I was super excited when, in January of this year, I was hired by Green Thumb Industries as their Patient and Community Outreach Manager. I felt this role gave me a great opportunity to continue my work helping patients discover a better and more natural way to treat their ailments and live healthier lives.
But my excitement soon faded when I realized just how oppressive the Ohio Board of Pharmacy was going to be in their oversight and enforcement of this industry. Everything, and I mean everything, we wanted to do to engage the public and the patient community had to be fully detailed in a report to the State inspector at least two weeks prior to any given event and they had the final say in what we could and, more importantly, couldn't say or do.

Jay-Z’s rap impact seems almost absurd. Dipset making Columbus their second home during the Roc-a-Fella era was something this rap fan personally cherishes.

Let’s be more practical: Jay-Z and myself both liking rap music isn’t surprising at all.
I would like to congratulate Columbus’ the Fallen regarding their new release, “Stick Yo Self” EP with French based Decision Making Theory Records/Knotweed Records in March.
The abuse of OSU athletes by Dr. Richard Strauss for the better part of two decades went unreported for nearly four decades?
And when it did come to light, it was not uncovered by the Columbus Dispatch and the city's other mainstream media, but by victims coming forward.
Suffice it to say that the Ohio State University is a sacred cow in the eyes of the local news media. The university has so many patrons and loyalists that the news organizations are reluctant to investigate it for fear of alienating and losing their fickle audience. Not to mention that OSU spends a lot of money on local advertising that the local media does not want pulled as punishment for negative coverage.
The uncritical behavior gets worse as the Dispatch, among others, has a growing propensity to run press releases from OSU as news stories in prominent positions.
For instance, on May 16 on the front page of the second section, theDispatch ran the following headline: "Study: OSU has $15.2B economic impact." The article that followed was credited to an "analysis released by the school" in a recent speech by President Michael Drake.
