Today’s Ohio Capital Journal reported that, “A former city employee received a $195,000 settlement from the city of Columbus after claiming she was illegally required to work on the 2023 reelection campaign of Mayor Andrew Ginther.”
“Ohio law prohibits the use of public resources, such as a public employee’s hours worked, on political campaigns. Columbus’ policy forbids office holders and employees from engaging in political activity forbidden by state law.”
Ohio is among the top 10 states where gerrymandering runs rampant. Now, a chorus of Black Faith leaders are uniting and urging Ohioans to vote yes on Issue 1, which will end gerrymandering by empowering citizens, instead of politicians, to draw fair legislative maps in an open and transparent process.
Yo, Yost, no one is eating dogs and cats in Springfield! No one is eating dead geese or ducks either. Please stop the mad hysteria! AG Yost should grow a backbone instead and defend Springfield, Ohio and not spread fake news started by Donald Trump.
Just for the record, the Haitian community in Springfield is 12,000 to 15,000 according to Mayor Rob Rue and not 20,000. That's nearly 7,000 less! Most Haitians in Springfield are legal residents, green card holders, or newly naturalized US citizens. They came into Springfield five years ago.
Haitians are attracted to Ohio because there is plenty of jobs and excellent universities and affordable living.
Stereotyping Haitian refugees is hurtful, embarrassing, and is not the way to welcome newcomers to our state.
GOP smack talk Haitians led by you, Sen. Vance, and your party leader is a hate speech, and it depicts Haitians as savages and troublemakers.
Dave Yost's public statements about Springfield add insults, subtract pleasure, multiply ignorance, and divide attention.
Trump is well-known for making outrageous statements on social media that are intended to attract media attention.
On Tuesday night, September 10, Kamala Harris and Donald Trump faced off in a high-stakes presidential debate where Harris emerged as the consensus winner after getting under the former president’s skin during a tense part of the debate. It was a highly important debate for both of them as the latest polling numbers showed them neck and neck in the battle for the White House. Trump attempted to stick to his typical talking points but slowly fell away after an odd rant about immigrants eating dogs in Ohio.
Wherever you live – whether it’s a Deep Red State or a Deep Blue State – you no longer have to feel the election has already been decided because you already know how your state’s going to vote. I am here to tell you, as you sit there 100 miles east of Bentonville, AR, or smack dab in the middle of the sweet aroma of Super Silver Haze in Berkeley, CA, you can have a powerful effect on this election!
Beginning today and running all weekend long (and throughout September), the Democratic Party is organizing virtual phone banks for the Harris-Walz campaign, and for other Democrats down the ballot.
It took the Ohio Oil and Gas Land Management Commission (OGLMC) just 22 minutes Monday to rubber stamp fracking under Keen Wildlife Area and four Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) parcels.
The four-member, unelected commission appointed by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine ignored shouted questions and concerns from Save Ohio Parks audience members about the harms of fracking under Ohio’s state parks and public lands, and did not allow the public to speak either before the meeting or afterward.
EOG Resources, Inc. of Houston, Texas was selected to frack 84 acres of Keen Wildlife Area in Harrison County. The lease bonus is expected to bring in $211,650 to the state, plus royalties of 12.5 percent and an additional amount of 5.5 percent of production, according to an Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) press release.
Tamie Wilson of Delaware County is looking to finally end the tortuous reign of Jim Jordan and his smirk in Ohio’s 4th congressional district. This will be the second try for this self-described “common sense candidate.” The odds are against her, as some polls have Jordan at a double-digit lead.
But the Democrat doesn’t see it that way. She’s steadfastly optimistic. She’s been at county fairs talking to District 4 voters, something Jordan rarely does. A third candidate, a libertarian, has entered the race, and she believes they will siphon votes away from Jordan. But there’s also a wild card about to be thrown down in her favor by George Clooney. His documentary on Jordan’s role – or lack thereof – in the Ohio State University sexual abuse scandal of its male athletes by Dr. Richard Strauss is scheduled to hit HBO in September or October.
Project 2025, labeled the Presidential Transition Project, is the 920-page Republican Party plan to be implemented after (not if) they “win” the presidential and congressional elections in November. It describes how Trump and his allies intend to destroy America’s democracy and create something like a monarchy or fascist political order. Independently of the 2025 Project, Trump believes he will win the election and then become the absolute leader. The federal government will then be under his control, obviating the need for elections and the rule of law. The rich and powerful will be the chief beneficiaries.
According Project 2025, opponents of Trump will be imprisoned or deported, as will millions of undocumented workers residing in the country. Thousands of Trump loyalists will be appointed to executive branch jobs. And a full-blown right-wing agenda will be instituted, involving lowered taxes on the rich, deregulation, and privatization of critical public institutions. The social safety net will be eviscerated. The production and consumption of fossil fuels will be maximized and global warming will increase.
