Everybody Knows with Dr. Bob and Dan-o
We Are Ohio will be holding petition signing events in 9 cities across Ohio on Saturday to repeal SB 5. The campaign has less than 70 days to obtain the necessary signatures to overturn this unfair attack on employee rights and workers safety. This bill doesn’t create any jobs, but hurts our teachers, firefighters, nurses and our communities. We encourage you to attend one of these events and be among the first to sign the petition. For additional information, please go to www.weareohio.com. Thank you.

It’s been nearly a decade since the PATRIOT Act became law in America. It’s time to put an end to the ongoing abuses under its draconian powers.
Government surveillance has invaded the privacy of innocent Americans en masse. The FBI has used national security letters to seize mountains of private records while gagging the recipients. And the “material support” provision has dramatically eroded First Amendment rights—as demonstrated by raids last fall targeting peaceful activists across the Midwest.
Having endured ten years of invasive and unconstitutional surveillance, we finally have a realistic opportunity to change this law—but only if members of Congress hear from concerned constituents across the country.
From April 18 through May 1, your congressional representatives will leave DC for two weeks and return to your area. Don’t let them leave without hearing your voice.

SB 5 will destroy hard-won bargaining rights for public workers in Ohio, as well as restrict worker's polical rights. SB 5 is an attempt to blame hard-working families for the economic crisis which was caused by the greed of Wall Street financiers and the wealthy! The April 9 demo is an answer from Ohio's working families and their supporters.
BE THERE! Let your friends, family, co-workers know about the rally & BE THERE!

Tell GE: Pay your taxes.
Clicking here will add your name to this petition to Jeffrey R. Immelt, Chairman and CEO of General Electric:
"As an American taxpayer, I am outraged that General Electric would shirk its responsibility to pay income tax on the massive profits it makes in the United States. I pay my taxes and so should you."
If you want to know why we're facing vicious budget cuts across the country, look no further than General Electric, America's largest corporation.
According to a shocking exposé just published by the New York Times, GE made over $26 billion in profit in the United States during the last five years, but paid nothing in federal income tax. Zero. In fact, it claimed a $4.1 billion net tax benefit from the IRS during that time.1
Meanwhile, lack of revenue is causing brutal cutbacks of vital services at all levels of government.
We shouldn't be firing teachers and taking health care away from children because GE is shirking on its responsibility to pay income tax.

I Love My Obamacare website and petition efforts: We have collected over 2,300 signatures of “ILoveMyObamacare.org” supporters, including more than 350 gathered at protests at the Wisconsin State Capitol in Madison. We also collected over 600 signatures at the combined labor and teacher rallies last Wednesday at the Michigan State Capitol in Lansing.
Congressman John Conyers is fully supporting this effort for several reasons. He explains that our I Love My Obamacare effort is the next step towards gaining Medicare for All, HR 676. If our opponents are able to repeal Obamacare in the US Senate, we may never see “health care for all” during our lifetime. Fortunately, our and others’ efforts for Obamacare are gaining more strength, as Conyers states that more and more pro-health reform Congress Members on the floor are speaking about their support for “Medicaid, Medicare and Obamacare.” Also, Conyers appreciates the fact that President Obama was crucial in passing the Affordable Care Act last year, and calling the Act Obamacare is a tribute to his and every ones efforts.
