DEFINITIONS:
Economic Globalization: This is a process of worldwide economic integration which has reached a level of activity that has outgrown national markets through industrial combinations and commercial groupings. Globalization offer huge potential profits to companies and nations, as well as a growing discontent between those who enjoy the benefits, and those who bear its costs (increased pollution, exploitation of workers, destruction of natural resources, widening income disparities). Universal Health Care Action Network of Ohio (UHCAN OHIO) needs your help.
During March 10-16, 2003 UHCAN OHIO will be supporting Covering the
Uninsured Week. This is a major national project funded by the Robert Wood
Johnson Foundation and sponsored by a coalition of diverse national partners
(see the list below) . Lack of health insurance is a dilemma facing 41
million Americans. Over 100,000 of them live right here in Franklin County.
UHCAN Ohio is committed to making Covering the Uninsured Week a major
opportunity to educate the public about the crisis of health care coverage,
but UHCAN Ohio needs your help.

he National Organization for Women (NOW), its Board of Directors, and its members have received numerous complaints regarding workplace environment and employment practices at Wal-Mart stores, distribution centers and regional and corporate offices. Extensive public record on cases filed against Wal-Mart were considered and the allegations were found disturbing. They are sex discrimination in pay, promotion, and compensation; wage abuse; exclusion of contraceptive coverage in insurance plans; violations of child labor laws and the Americans with Disabilities Act; and discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation. Cases have also been filed regarding firing pro-union workers, eliminating jobs once workers joined unions, and discouraging workers from unionizing. In addition, Wal-Mart continues to refuse to dispense Preven, the “morning-after pill.”
