Meeting

Knowledge is Power is an inclusive and accessible group of progressive learners who are working to educate ourselves about the issues facing us today. From Central Ohio politics to climate change, we are arming ourselves with knowledge to actively work to better our world.

YOU ARE INVITED TO JOIN US! We meet monthly all around Central Ohio to discuss a topic chosen by the group members. We offer multiple ways to access materials for each topic, from books and articles to podcasts and documentaries– because everyone learns best in different ways!

Attending a Good Neighbor Training is the first step to becoming a Community Refugee & Immigration Services (CRIS) volunteer. Offered monthly both virtually and in-person, the Good Neighbor Training is a two-hour information session led by CRIS staff members. Topics covered include the refugee process, challenges refugees face after resettlement, services provided by CRIS, and a brief explanation of ways to get involved. Sign up here.

Ohio Citizen Action is proud to host a panel discussion featuring leading voices at the intersection of labor and clean energy. We're bringing together Maddy Wilson from the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) and Brian McPeek from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 688 to explore how union involvement is shaping the future of utility-scale solar development in Ohio. As our state stands at a crossroads in the energy transition, this conversation couldn't be more timely.

Buckeye State Rural formed in 2017 out of Indivisible Ohio District 15 and expanded statewide in 2020. We place billboards with progressive messages along rural commuter routes.

Since 2018, we have installed more than 70 billboards during each federal election cycle. As a 527 Super PAC, BSR works with local and regional groups to establish a billboard (or more) in their area.

While times are very intense and wild, the growing signs of mass resistance are impactful and huge. The No Kings Day protest was the largest single-day political protest ever in the U.S. Just last month, millions of regular people withheld their money from Disney in the wake of Jimmy Kimmel’s firing, forcing the network to reverse course. Make no mistake: that was a huge power moment for our broad resistance. And we are seeing videos go viral on social media of thousands of everyday people in Chicago and Portland getting creative and brave to protect their neighbors from ICE.
