#4forFairFood: We’re saying that it’s time to put these universities’ principles into action.

Join us on International Women’s Day, March 8, at 12noon; the march will begin at 1pm; at Goodale Park, 120 W. Goodale St.; we will march to Bricker Hall [on the OSU campus], 190 N. Oval Mall.

Monday, January 14, 5-7pm, Columbus City Hall, 90 W. Broad St.

We’ve received word that Columbus City Council is going to vote in favor of massive $13,000 donation limits to city campaigns at Monday’s City Council session. There has been a lot of public opposition to this proposal, and virtually no public support. We will be presenting our petition tomorrow night, and we want you to be there, to show City Council that we demand a voice in our government, and we won’t stand by in silence while City Council writes its own rules and shuts out working families.

Friday, January 11, 12noon-1pm, outside of U.S. Senator Rob Portman’s Columbus office, 37 W. Broad St., Ste. 300

Join our union brothers and sisters of AFGE [American Federation of Government Employees] for a rally this Friday, January 11, to end the government shutdown. Every day that this government shutdown drags on, hundreds of thousands of working people are denied a paycheck and millions lose the vital government services that we deserve. Real families with very real bills are being harmed and it’s time we hold our country’s leadership accountable.

Saturday, January 19, 11am-2pm, Washington Gladden Social Justice Park, northeast corner of E. Broad St. and Cleveland Ave.

We will no longer wait for the “right time.” We will not wait for justice. We demand equality now! The Women’s March on Washington third anniversary will be held on January 19, 2019, all while recognizing that the actual anniversary is on the honorary Dr. Martin Luther King Day. We will never forget civil rights leaders who came before us, on whose shoulders we stand, and those who fought for freedom and liberation of all people.

Thursday, January 3, 12noon-1pm, 250 E. Wilson Bridge Rd., Worthington, Ohio

Meet outside of U.S. Congressional Representative [District 12] Troy Balderson’s office to support H.R. 1, the pro-democracy bill that will be introduced at the beginning of 2019.

Thursday, December 27, 8:30am-5pm, Ohio Statehouse

The Ohio General Assembly has added an as-needed session day on Thursday, December 27 to override Governor Kasich’s possible vetoes to H.B. 258, the six-week abortion ban, and S.B. 145, the abortion method ban.

We must show anti-abortion politicians that, holidays or not, we are showing up in full force to stop these dangerous and unconstitutional bans from becoming law.

Sunday, December 23, 5-7pm, Columbus Division of Police, 120 Marconi Blvd.

On December 7, Julius Tate, Jr., a 16-year-old black teen, was the 12th person to be killed by the Columbus Division of Police. His own mother stated that he was killed in “cold blood.” His murder is a continuation of the violence that CPD has done against its most vulnerable communities.

Now, CPD is trying to pin his murder on Masonique Saunders, Julius’ girlfriend.

Tuesday, December 4, 12noon-12:30pm, Ohio Statehouse

We won’t go back on abortion access in Ohio! Rally at the Ohio Statehouse on Tuesday, December 4, at 12noon, to show state lawmakers and Gov. Kasich that there are no acceptable abortion bans or restrictions.

With the Ohio House’s vote to pass a six-week abortion ban, we need to clearly communicate to the Ohio Senate that progress on this bill should stop immediately.

Wednesday, November 14, 11:45am-1pm, Ohio Statehouse

Join us as we call upon our state lawmakers to pass LGBTQ-inclusive nondiscrimination protections. Ohioans of faith from all backgrounds and religious traditions support LGBTQ-inclusion and believe that we are all children of God.

The Ohio Fairness Act (House Bill 160) would extend basic civil rights protections to LGBTQ Ohioans. If passed into law, it would make it illegal to discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression in employment, housing, and public accommodations.
