I attended the Monday, April 13 City Council meeting just to watch some of the most impressive verbal acrobatics ever seen outside a circus tent.
On one side there was your next mayor of Columbus, Council President Shannon Hardin, but the other side?
Pretty much everyone else.
Questions are a Sign of Intelligence.
Hardin kept asking questions of city staff concerning the planned destruction of McCoy Park for a new women’s soccer training facility. Unfortunately, the city employees kept answering his questions.
And all of the questions were points that you’d assume Hardin had already discussed before single-handedy negotiating a sweetheart deal with Haslam. Nope.
He has easily forgotten recording a video for Facebook bragging about how he had finished a breakthrough negotiating session with the Haslam Group and made a deal that would be the best for Columbus.

Once again, I am not against an National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) franchise coming to Columbus. My concerns are the $25 million handout and looting of public parkland.

Just two days after The American Prospect reported on Vivek Ramaswamy's deep financial ties to the cryptocurrency industry, the April 6th disclosure shows that the Republican gubernatorial frontrunner personally holds cryptocurrencies Bitcoin and Ethereum and owns a controlling stake in Strive, Inc. –- a company he founded that has bet nearly $1 billion in corporate funds on Bitcoin.
Since Strive bought its Bitcoin at an average of $104,000 a coin it has lost one-third of its value and is now worth around $72,000. Every dollar Bitcoin's price rises is a dollar closer to making Ramaswamy whole.

I recently came to the conclusion that Columbus City Hall is basically your Junior High School Student Government, but with millions of dollars to spend.
Most people hated Junior High (Middle School).
Your body was changing, you had bullies, you were slowly figuring out who you were going to be. The only people who seemed to enjoy Junior High were the popular students, or in this case City Council and the Mayor. The only people allowed to spend money and know what is actually going on.
Unfortunately, they only listen to wealthy business owners, real estate investors, and the rich calling them to ask for our tax dollars.

The Palestinian people are not alone, the Lebanese people are not alone. The Iranian people are not alone.
Our grief and resistance are collective.
