Anti-War
According to a headline in The Hill newspaper, which takes a position typical of U.S.
This week, the New York Times reported that the U.S. government made war in Afghanistan while helping to “recruit, train and pay for lawless bands of militias that pillaged homes and laid waste to entire communities.” Those militias “tortured civilians, kidnapped for ransom, massacred dozens in vendetta killings and razed entire villages, sowing more than a decade of hatred toward the Afghan government and its American allies.”
Written by a former Kabul bureau chief for the Times, the article appeared under a headline saying that “U.S.-backed militias” in Afghanistan were “worse than the Taliban.”
Now they tell us.
The early November detention of Asif Rahman, a Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) officer, indicted in a federal national security court in the Eastern District of Virginia on two counts of “willful retention and transmission of national defense information under the Espionage Act,” was largely downplayed in the national media. He was arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on Tuesday November 5th at the US Embassy in Phnom Penh in Cambodia where he was stationed and was sent to appear in the nearest federal court in Guam on Thursday the 7th to be charged. After his initial court appearance and indictment, Rahman, was transferred to a federal prison in Virginia.
My former CIA colleague Larry Johnson has a real ability to clarify the significance of the constantly growing deep dark hole that Joe “Mumbles” Biden, he of failing mental capacity, has hurled the American people into. Larry wrote on December 12th that “There is still plenty of time before Donald Trump is inaugurated for Joe Biden’s team of cretins to start World War III. I think the biggest risk is that Israel may be emboldened to attack Iran and try to destroy sites, and may be encouraged to do so by the Biden lackeys.
People’s willingness to get upset about evidence-free allegations of rapes by Hamas is not purely because people rightly condemn rape but also because the topic distracts from condemning open shameless public mass-murder which happens to be even worse than rape.
All the attention going to which idiots are supposedly protesting Jewish restaurants or murdering Palestinian college students is not due purely to wanting to place blame correctly but also to valuing any topic that’s not the open shameless public mass murder underway right before our eyes.
People’s obsession with who knew what before the Hamas attack is not due purely to wanting to expose Israel’s lies or Hamas’s nefariousness but also to how hard it is to look at open shameless public mass murder underway before our eyes.
The ongoing war and genocide in Gaza is unprecedented. Nothing that Israel and its supporters can say or do will avoid the historical accountability of the extermination of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
The above assertion is critical, both for ending the Israeli occupation of Palestine and achieving Palestinian freedom. This is why.
In all past wars and adjoining war crimes, Israel managed to push the reset button in its relationship with occupied Palestinians.
“Imperialism leaves behind germs of rot which we must clinically detect and remove from our land but from our minds as well,” Frantz Fanon wrote in ‘The Wretched of the Earth’.
What the iconic anti-colonial philosopher and psychiatrist was essentially arguing is that the mind must be decolonized first, in order for the undoing of colonialism to succeed in all aspects of our liberation.
Many in the Global South, but especially intellectuals and analysts concerned with Middle Eastern affairs, are still struggling with their relationship with the United States.
The American Empire, supported by of it's mainstream media propaganda mouthpiece, appears to be supporting both Biden's escalation in Russia and his continuing support for genocide. The American people, still in shock from the recent election of a narcissistic, racist, misogynist, rapist traitor to be the next President, apparently have no ability to change the course of the Empire's wars. To a large extent, mainstream media continues to be relevant, although many Americans are learning how to dig deeper into current events. Is it possible that President Bully Boy Dump could end the madness of the American Empire’s wars? He claims to want to end the wars while he appoints neocons to his cabinet. But maybe?
My view of the conflict in Russia and the genocide in Gaza is different from that of most Americans. It is informed by several great reporters and observers who are mentioned below. It is not informed by the New York Times, Washington Post, CNN, MSNBC, or any of the mouthpieces of Empire.
The Empire provokes the war in Ukraine.
