Join us for a public reading of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations in 1944, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights states basic rights and fundamental freedoms to which all human beings are entitled.

Tuesday, December 10, 3pm, Ohio Statehouse [South Hearing Room]

On Tuesday, December 10, at 3pm, Ohio’s “Don’t Say Gay or Trans” bill [H.B. 8] will be heard in committee for proponent, opponent, and interested party testimony. On Wednesday, December 11, H.B. 8 is expected to move out of committee and could advance to a full Senate vote.

In the final days of the Ohio General Assembly, let’s make sure those who hunger and are struggling to make ends meet are heard in the halls of the Ohio Statehouse. Come and learn about the policy issues and carry that message into meetings with State Representatives and Senators to guarantee that all receive their daily bread!

Sunday, December 8, 5:30-6:30pm, Old First Presbyterian Church, 1101 Bryden Rd.

A twenty-to-thirty-minute silent meditation will be followed by discussion and refreshments.

The benefits of meditation are innumerable. These include greater mental clarity, a reduction in stress, improved emotional balance, and increased spiritual development. Meditation benefits everyone.

Different meditation practices will be presented, throughout the year, by practitioners of those traditions.

This year’s theme: “Expressing Gratitude: With Our Heads, Hearts, and Hands.”

In remembrance of Julius Tate Jr., whose life was tragically cut short on December 7, 2018, the community will gather to honor his memory and call for systemic change in policing. Julius was taken from us far too soon, and his family, friends, and community have been left to grieve this immeasurable loss.
