BANGKOK, Thailand -- While Asia suffers from the Strait of Hormuz blockade, Bangkok is offering Beijing, Singapore and others a planned multi-billion dollar "Land Bridge" across Thailand's thin peninsula, to link shipping between the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand instead of south through the equatorial Strait of Malacca.
China, the U.S. and other countries could use the 56-mile-long (90 km) Land Bridge for commercial, military and other shipping, potentially reducing fuel costs and time on routes to and from the Persian Gulf and South China Sea.
Beijing's use of the proposed shorter shipping route could also help China if the U.S. blockades the Strait of Malacca during a regionwide conflict over Taiwan or other issues.
Thailand's newly reelected "Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has pointed to growing uncertainty around key maritime chokepoints, including the Strait of Hormuz, as justification for moving the project forward," the Bangkok Post said in a Wednesday (April 29) editorial.
"The government is also preparing a series of international roadshows to attract foreign investment," the paper said.

Es seductor tomar una postura en la cual la doctrina militar del estado de Israel se

Por su parte, Ministro Primero Benjamín Netanyahu no contradiría semejante
argumento, y su escalado impulso bélico frenético es indicativo de ello, ya que su
meta declarada para un Gran Israel obliga a esa clase de militarismo permanente
con expansión implacable y destrucción por toda la región.
No obstante, el país no puede soportar por siempre una lucha abierta con
múltiples frentes. Lucen de llevar contiendas sobre “siete frentes”, pero en
términos militares muchos de ellos son más imaginarios que campos de batalla
efectivos.
Las verdaderas guerras —desde el genocidio en Gaza hasta sus ofensivas
regionales no provocadas— son entera y exclusivamente obras israelíes.

“2026 is the first World Press Freedom Day in 30 years that journalists’ work at major media outlets including New York Times, The Atlantic, and USA Today is not being preserved by the independent, nonprofit Internet Archive. We are calling on you and on all news outlets to publicly commit to working with the Internet Archive to keep the news in the Wayback Machine,” reads a petition that tech justice group Fight for the Future has launched.
The public petition addressed to leadership at major news outlets comes on the heels of a letter that journalists delivered to the Internet Archive, thanking them for their work as an essential resource in journalism. When signing, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow called the Internet Archive "a national treasure.” Adding “I use it daily, and have for many, many years. I cannot imagine doing the work I do without it.”

The Democratic leadership in Congress has failed to provide real leadership against a war-crazed Trump administration. Senator Chuck Schumer and Representative Hakeem Jeffries have not acted to prevent war on Venezuela or the current war on Iran. They worked to delay a vote on Iran until after the war had started, while failing to clearly oppose it before or after the launch of the war. Schumer and Jeffries have shown that they cannot be trusted to prevent more wars, more threats of wars, or the transfer of another half a trillion dollars a year into the war machine.
It’s time for congressional Democrats to replace Schumer and Jeffries with leaders who are willing and able to challenge the runaway militarism that has dragged our country into launching yet another insanely destructive war.
