I voted at my correct precinct and polling place in May, 2006 without incident.

I received an "official elction mailing" in the mail in Oct. 2006 clearly stating my correct name, address, polling place and precinct.

I erroneously thought this meant I was properly registered to vote in Nov. 2006!

I took this mailing in hand and went to vote in November, 2006. I was told I wasn't registered even though I showed poll workers my mailing and said that I'd voted in May without any incident!!

I was told I needed to complete a provisional ballot. I told the poll workers, I had no faith that my provisional ballot would be counted so I left my polling place without voting.

I made several phone calls. My story was carried by AP and other news sources. One website with my story is located at : http:www.onnnews.com/?sec=&story=sites/onn/content/pool/200611/411468068...

I phoned the following organizations:

1. Election Protection Hotline, 1.866.657.8683
2. ACLU voter protection, 216.472.2220
3. Cuyahoga County Board of Election , 216.443.3200
4. Ohio Democratic Party, 1.888.DEM Vote
5. AP news

After talking with the above people, I went back to my polling place and voted with a provisional ballot!

I later tried to verify whether my provisional ballot was counted or not! I asked for help from my Congressman!

I found out recently that my provisional ballot was not counted!!!

I also found out that supposedly I am now an active voter and I should have no further problems voting. This remains to be seen!

What is the value of one vote denied! Was the changing of my valid registration a clerical error or a malicious attempt to disenranchise me as a valid, registered voter!!! If it was a clerical error, such ineptitude should be severely punished! If greater maliciousness caused my valid registration to be tampered with, what damages might I be entitled to?

I'd like to know what really happened to my registration and whether others like me are willing to litigate for damages resulting from being denied the right to vote!!

I wonder whether any class action law suits are underway for elgible voters who were denied one of their most basic cherished rights in the election of November, 2006 in Ohio!

Thank you for allowing me to post my story!
