I agree we need paper trails, and that Blackwell and Co. manipulated the results in various and obvious ways, - openly for those who want to see it. However, the Anybody But Bush'ers seem to be filled with if only's. If only Nader had not run in 2000, if only Kerry had won, if only the election were fair Kerry would have, if only the "little people" would just listen to them, -the ABB'ers. If only guys like me would not point out the obvious as well-that we need to start first with the little people and not with the elitists.
And another obvious thing: How can "Democracy" hang by a thread when the United States is not now, nor has it ever been a democracy? I wish the United States was a democracy, and that is the heart of the problem. Before the elitists of Bush and the Republicans, we had the elitists who wrote the Constitution, who did not even include the word Democracy in the contents of the Constitution. Now, we have elitists who want to stifle the voices of others the way the election of 2000 stifled minorities, as well as this election. Stifle them, like me, who say that it is the ABB'ers who stole the election by disregarding any progressive agenda. The election elitists want you to concentrate on the election instead of questioning why we continue to follow the same tired elitists of the left. I should say, the supposed left. That is not to say those in general who are upset by the election fraud are all elitists. Not at all. But if they are not addressing why they supported Kerry to begin with, and the failure of that policy, then in my view those who do not acknowledge their culpability in the debacle are probably elitists. And by the way, inner city people standing in lines at voting time is not a new phenomenon. It has just become bolder and more blatant.
A bigger problem is what just happened in the Ohio Legislature, and what that means for labor and the general public's welfare.
So I consider the line "hanging by a thread" to be propaganda by elitists of the left, who want their propaganda to replace the right's propaganda.
I prefer a progressive agenda based on the "trickle up" principle. Those on the bottom should get large wage increases, and their should be a maximum wage. The maximum wage could be increased only if the needs of the general populace were met first.
But most of all, I prefer a progressive agenda based on truth, not scare propaganda.
