Morgan Harper, a consumer protection attorney and community organizer, is a 2022 Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate for Ohio. 

Born to a teenager, Morgan lived in a foster home for nine months before being adopted and raised in Columbus by a public school teacher. She received scholarships to attend Tufts (BA), Princeton (MA) and Stanford (JD). During the Obama administration, she served as a Senior Advisor at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) responsible for protecting consumers against predatory lenders. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Most recently, she was the Director of Policy & Advocacy at the American Economic Liberties Project, a non-profit fighting to break up corporate monopolies across the economy. In this role, Morgan testified before Congress on the unchecked power of Big Tech. At the start of her career, Morgan clerked at the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, worked as a paralegal at the Federal Trade Commission, and was a special assistant at the Center for American Progress. She also spent two years in the private sector at a major law firm, gaining additional knowledge and insight into the behavior of corporations and the financial sector.  

Morgan is the co-founder of Columbus Stand Up! a grassroots community organization that has mobilized volunteers across Central Ohio to serve the community and protect vulnerable populations from the spread of Covid-19.
