The Dalai Lama's Escape & CIA Money

BANGKOK, Thailand -- The Dalai Lama's dangerous escape into India on March 31, 1959 fleeing Communist Chinese troops seizing Tibet, prompted the CIA's secret financing, training, arming, and parachute-dropping of Tibetan guerrillas into their homeland four months later.

On the 66th anniversary of that epic escape, India's Arunachal Pradesh state government, for the first time, opened a six-day public "Freedom Trail, Route of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama" trek on foot from the border into India following the original passage.

The unprecedented event may irk Beijing which began invading Tibet in 1951 and denounces the Dalai Lama as subversive.

The March 31-April 5 trek's main purpose however is to attract tourists and pilgrims to the mountainous route which showcases the Dalai Lama's historic journey and the Buddhist shrines, monoliths, stupas, and displays along the way.

Fearing execution or imprisonment, the Dalai Lama escaped from his gigantic, fortress-like Potala Palace in 1959 and began a dangerous two-week trek on horses and yaks southeast across Tibet's glacier-covered Himalayas and steep valleys to reach the Indian border.

Global trade war, recession, and genocide

The global trade war was launched yesterday officially by the Trump regime.
It is one of the last gasps and "lashing out" of a dying US empire. A
global recession will follow but the biggest losers will be the western
world (primarily US and EU) and its lackeys (those who tied their future
with it like the Palestinian and other Arab "leaders"). My advice to them
and others: end the genocide now and get rid of your US $ and any
investments you have in multinational corporations tied to
imperialism/Zionism (and thus to genocide) and focus on how to feed people
in an era of climate change and job elimination (due to AI etc). Boycotts,
divestment, sanctions will make the period of pain shorter as a new world
order is being born (see bdsmovement.net). Dare we hope for a new era of
peace, equality, free trade, and sustainability?

Rümeysa Öztürk wrote an op-ed. Now Führer Trump wants her deported

I was like millions of Americans who were shocked to learn about — and to see the frightening video of — the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) thugs kidnapped of Tufts graduate student Rümeysa Öztürk in broad daylight. She was seemingly targeted because she was one of four coauthors of an op-ed published in the Daily last year. Her arrest came after the pro-Israel group Canary Mission (CM) flagged Ozturk for having "engaged in anti-Israel activism in March 2024" and Canary Mission shared the information with Marco Rubio and the Israeli embassy. Canary Mission engages in collecting information about Interantional student and professors who are critical of Apartheid Israel and enjoy tax-exempt status but it is not registered as a foreign lobby group. Let's delete Iran

The US is clearly massing military forces for what many experts believe will be a full-bore attack on Iran. The big question, is this a part of President Trump’s usual negotiating strategy of bluff and bluster or the opening moves in a major war campaign against Iran?Evidence to date strongly suggests that the US is heading towards a major war against Iran. Under presidents Biden and Trump, Israel has achieved remarkable influence over the US. Trump is surrounded by an ardently pro-Israel coterie of aides, advisors and financial backers. The president has made no secret that he is way to the far right of Israel’s current hard-line government. He has called for ethnic cleansing of Palestinians, he detests Muslims (unless they are ultra rich Gulf Bedouins) and, of course, now has Jewish relatives as part of his family. Under the unlamented Biden, and now Trump, Israel has assumed control of US Mideast political and military policy. Right now, two US aircraft carriers are steaming to stations within striking range of Iran and Yemen.
