Welcome to ComFest 2025

Welcome to ComFest! Your presence here makes you part of an ongoing experiment in cultural evolution and political power.

A thumbnail history: Organized in the OSU area in 1972 by hippie businesspeople and craftspeople, progressive activists, musicians, and community social services that included a tenants’ union, the city’s first food co-op, its first rape crisis center, an alternative newspaper, and a free medical clinic.

Moved from E. 16th Ave. in 1983 to a vacant lot across from Goodale Park, and, in 1993, into Goodale Park itself; added more stages that year. Featured workshops and presenters on a range of political, historic, and cultural issues. Developed kids’ programs.

On the last full weekend of June each year, ComFest reprises the energizing mix of politics, music, food, crafts, community, hope, and mutual respect that are its hallmarks.

ComFest closing times:

Friday and Saturday at 11pm; Sunday at 6pm. The barricade at W. Swan St. and Park St. will close at 10pm Friday and Saturday; no re-entry will be allowed.
