Trump's Tyranny
The momentum to impeach President Trump is accelerating.
On Thursday, Congressman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) filed a “resolution of inquiry” that amounts to the first legislative step toward impeachment.
A new poll shows that registered voters are evenly split, at 46-to-46 percent, on whether they “support” or “oppose” impeaching Trump. Just two weeks ago, the pro-impeachment figure was 35 percent.
The solution to the presidency of Donald J. Trump is simple, if those of us who are decent, caring and responsible human beings will stand together and act as one. In opposition to every Trump legislative proposal passed into law by his Republican lapdogs in Congress, we will not offer lengthy and detailed complaints. Talk is not only cheap but it is often worthless, and it is always impotent when exchanged with someone not prepared to even listen to the thoughts of others. As reply to all probably illegal and certainly immoral executive orders signed by this septuagenarian toddler, we will never explain our opposition. Those who understand the deadly and worldwide threats presented by this man don’t need explanations, and for those who do not or will not understand, no explanation would suffice to change a single mind. All Americans who value not only their only lives but the very existence of America as a compassionate democracy and not a totalitarian state must respond with just one word, which we will repeat a thousand times if necessary. And we must be prepared to back up that single syllable utterance with the totality and unity of our actions.

When he says “the security of our nation is at stake,” he refers demagogically to the imaginary threat of terrorists from seven countries. He is right to say “the security of our nation is at stake,” but not at all in the way he means – the security of our nation is profoundly at stake in this case because, if he wins, then presidential orders will become dictatorial decrees beyond the reach of the courts. Our constitutional crisis continues.

Acting Attorney General Sally Yates was appointed to that position at the request of the Trump administration, for the express purpose of serving only until the confirmation of the Trump appointee for Attorney General.
ow Donald Trump is a war criminal just like his predecessors. That didn’t take long. Over the inaugural weekend, while the president was obsessing about the size of his crowd, his government also let loose two drone strikes against defenseless Yemen, reportedly killing an estimated 10 people, some of whom could possibly have been terrorists about to strike somewhere in Yemen. Three of these people were on a motorcycle hit by one drone, the other seven were in a vehicle hit by the other drone.
The United States is not formally at war with Yemen but strikes the country with drones whenever it feels like it. The U.S. also maintains a naval blockade of Yemen, contributing to near-famine in the region’s poorest country, which has never been able to produce enough food to feed its 25 million people. And since March 2015, the U.S. has supported and participated in the undeclared, illegal war of aggression launched by Saudi Arabia and its allies with U.S. blessings.
s advertised, Trump’s inaugural featured a strong promise to put America first, without really articulating just what that means. The original America First movement in the late 1930s was dedicated to staying out of war with Nazi Germany. Whether Trump wants to stay out of any war, or disengage from the multiple wars we’ve been fighting since 2001, is far from clear (and mostly goes unaddressed). Nothing Trump says smacks of isolation, and his opening sentence addresses the “people of the world.”
The next sentence can be read as a warning to the people of the world: that Americans are rebuilding, restoring America’s promise, and together “will determine the course of America and the world for many, many years to come.”

Of course it’s not that simple, as even two-note Republicans have begun to acknowledge wanly, since flat-out repeal could make enemies for the party, maybe twenty million of the suddenly uninsured. That’s almost ten times the number of votes Hillary won by. Bring it on.
