Friday morning, June 25, 2021 ComFest will unveil it’s new and improved site with the kick off of it’s 2021 Virtual ComFest.

The new site will include 3 broadcasts, 2021 recorded entertainment performances and workshops, never seen historic performances and workshops, our grants, our Street Fair and many other aspects of the festival. We will also be highlighting almost every program guide since the beginning.

For a while, I have been in favor of the United States lifting the embargo they and their allies placed on Cuba. I have felt that the policy was nothing more than an imperialistic desire to have Latin America run by those they prefer to have in power.

I feel that the United States should be concerned with what goes on in their own borders as opposed to dictating how other nations operate and so forth. If it is NOT within our borders, it most certainly is NOT our business to get involved and dictate how others should operate. The imposition of this policy has been the result of a bloody game of chess that the US and USSR were playing with one another during the Cold War period.

On Friday, June 18 and Monday, June 21, members of the Ohio Community Rights Network (OHCRN) delivered letters, along with packets of information, to nine county prosecuting attorneys and the Ohio Attorney General’s Office demanding investigations be opened involving public safety related to water supplies throughout the state.

Speech I Was Going to Give in Caracas

I was planning to go on a trip to Venezuela as an international delegate from the US working class section for “The Congress of the Peoples (El Congreso de los Pueblos)” conference, which was also the bicentennial for an important battle for the independence of Venezuela, led by the liberator Bolivar, the Battle of Carabobo in 1821. People from all over the world were coming, not just from this hemisphere, I was especially looking forward to meeting comrades from Libya, a country whose history I have studied extensively, and which is still suffering the consequences of the NATO invasion 10 years ago. It is interesting to note that June 23rd Micaela Bastidas, who is mentioned in the speech, and I was unaware of till after writing it, had her birthday. The conference was from June 21st-24th. I also mention Evo Morales, who I later found out was present at the conference. There were logistical problems in the last moment and I could not go, but I plan to go in the fall. This is the speech I would have gave had I been able to go. There were many speakers, I did a video reading it, but it was unable to be shown.

HB 294, the voting reform bill that I notified you about in recent weeks, is still pending in committee at the Statehouse. There are still portions of the bill that will depress turnout and make it harder to vote. There is a rally on Thursday, June 24th from 10 am until 12 pm at the Ohio Statehouse.If you or any of your activists are available, please join. There is also transportation available from multiple locations across the state. Please see image above for details.
