This overview of the Mexico’s context in the last year of the 21st century’s second decade was drafted at the request of a North American comrade who shares the socialist, feminist, and environmentalist ideals, and who knows that the only thing that is realistic is to fight for the impossible.

Contexts

Mexico’s foreign context continues to be dominated by its dependence on the United States, a country led by an unstable aristocrat whose manner of rule is by threat. He often evokes a chauvinist discourse in which Mexico plays the scapegoat.

Statement put out by the Columbus Freedom Coalition:

Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a day meant to honor the legacy of one of the most influential freedom fighters in history. Martin Luther King dreamed of a world where Black children were not judged by the color of their skin. But today, two protestors were arrested during Columbus’ MLK day brunch, solely for asking the city to acknowledge the execution of Julius Tate, Jr. While the city puts on celebratory airs, there is an ongoing targeted assault and war against Black communities in this country.

Police Officers for Equal Rights [POER] invites the Central Ohio community to attend our 25th Annual Free Community Breakfast on the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

A free breakfast will be served, 8-10am. A community program of gospel music, videos, and a keynote speaker, will be held in the sanctuary, 10am-12noon.

The simple act of flushing the toilet spread the deadly lung disease and health care workers had to wear HazMat suits to treat patients. Eight hundred people died including Pekka Aro, a senior official with the United Nations.
