“Depopulation should be the highest priority of foreign policy towards the third world…” – Henry Kissinger

Friends, this year the WEF is celebrating its 50th Anniversary. Forty-nine (49) of the insanely pompous – and every year more – WEF events took place in Davos, Switzerland. Just one, in 2002, after 9/11, was moved to New York City, paradoxically for ‘security reasons’ they said – the logic of such a move was as ludicrous as the WEF itself.

The Saga of Santa Susana

On November 24, 1957, an experimental nuclear reactor at the Santa Susana Field Lab site just north of Los Angeles produced the electricity to briefly light up the nearby city of Moorpark – an historic first.

With national TV coverage by the famed Edward R. Morrow and CBS on its popular “See It Now” series, and with officials from the fledgling US Atomic Energy Commission (AEC) in attendance, the event was touted as proof of the promise of commercial nuclear power in the United States.

Just 8 months later, on July 13, 1959, that same reactor became the site of America’s first nuclear meltdown - by some estimates even worse than the subsequent meltdown at Three Mile Island. Six weeks later, the Atomic Energy Commission issued a press release citing a “minor fuel element failure.”  Other than that, news coverage of the Santa Susana event was virtually non-existent for years.   The ‘Friendly Atom’ psyops campaign was swinging into action.

Since 1984, the Quebec-based Cirque du Soleil entertainment organization has become best known for imaginatively combining death-defying acrobatics with storytelling to creatively dramatize themes, as circus-meets-theater with a high-tech panache, international flair and savoir faire. My personal favorite is Cirque’s Love, a radiant ode to the Beatles I relished at Las Vegas. Toruk -The First Flight adapted elements of James Cameron’s 2009 special FX big screen extravaganza Avatar to a live stage performance. And so on.

A Winnipeg Free Press Exclusive

He stands about 5-10, with hair that’s shaggy on top and clipped close at the sides. He pulls at his bushy beard when he's deep in thought. His arms are often crossed when he talks.

If you walked past him on the sidewalk, you wouldn’t look twice.

Racial and homophobic epithets pepper his speech. He hates people who aren’t like him. He hates Jews and rants about conspiracies against white men. He quotes neo-Nazis such as Tom Metzger, James Mason and George Lincoln Rockwell.

He claims to be a member of the Canadian Armed Forces and said he was trained as a combat engineer. That training makes him highly coveted by the global fascist organization of which he's a member. He wants to pass on those skills to other neo-Nazis.

On a warm weekday evening in August at Winnipeg’s Whittier Park, he points to a nearby rail line and talks about the possibility of derailing a train. "Even if you didn’t want to make that go boom," he mutters, before explaining how someone could sabotage the tracks.

BANGKOK, Thailand -- In China, officials have cancelled air flights
and trains out of Wuhan, a city of 11 million people which is the
epicenter of a deadly coronavirus that has killed at least 17 people
and sickened 557.

All 17 deaths and most of the infections appeared in Hubei province,
including the capital Wuhan.

Other victims fell ill to the disease while visiting foreign
countries, including Thailand, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan and the
United States.

"We have it totally under control," President Trump told CNBC in
Davos, Switzerland, during the World Economic Forum.

"It’s one person coming in from China, and we have it under control.
It’s going to be just fine."

Elsewhere in China, cities with confirmed cases of people who have
fallen ill from the mysterious virus include Guangdong near Hong Kong,
the capital Beijing, Shanghai which is downriver from Wuhan, and a
handful of other places.

In Wuhan, all public transportation including taxis, buses, and subway

A rally will be held at 5pm on Thursday, January 23, 2020, to protest the  Franklin County Democratic Party’s (FCDP) release of its endorsements of candidates for the Central Committee, the Ohio 3rd Congressional District primary, and other state offices.  Under the FCDP endorsement system, the Party will now create a sample ballot of their preferred candidates and send it to all registered Democrats. Voters are encouraged to take this sanctioned list to the polling station and vote according to the FCDP recommendations.

Who the individuals are that make the endorsements is generally unknown, as is the basis for their decision. This year we do know that the Chairman of the Central Committee endorsement group is Otto Beatty, husband of Joyce Beatty, the incumbent candidate for the contested position of Congressional Representative for the 3rd District. With no debates or chance for the public to review individual policies, Beatty has been endorsed by the Committee, over her opponent Morgan Harper.

To corporate media, Bernie Sanders is incorrigible. He won’t stop defying the standard assumptions about what’s possible in national politics. His 2020 campaign -- with feet on the ground and eyes on visionary horizons -- is a danger to corporate capitalism’s “natural” order that enables wealth to dominate the political process.
